But instead of probing the violence at the Capitol, the committee dedicated another two hours to former President Donald Trump\u2019s stolen election claims. <\/p>\n<p>California Democrat Rep. Zoe Lofgren led Monday\u2019s questioning with testimony from GOP operative Ben Ginsberg, former U.S. attorney for the Northern District of Georgia BJay Pak, and former Philadelphia Commissioner Al Schmidt. Also testifying was fired Fox News Political Director Chris Stirewalt, who <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/06\/10\/ex-fox-news-editor-chris-stirewalt-to-testify-before-jan-6-committee\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">announced<\/a> his upcoming appearance before the committee after his prior network refused to air Thursday\u2019s Soviet-style performance. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf something doesn\u2019t add up with the numbers, you go to court to get resolution,\u201d said Chairman Bennie Thompson, D-Miss., at the onset of the proceedings. \u201cWe accept those results. That\u2019s what it means to respect the rule of law. That\u2019s what it means to seek elective office in our democracy, because those numbers aren\u2019t just numbers. They\u2019re votes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The same standard would ostensibly apply to failed 2016 presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, whose past campaign manager, Robby Mook, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2022\/05\/20\/politics\/hillary-clinton-robby-mook-fbi\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">testified<\/a> less than a month ago that the former Democratic nominee personally signed off on the grand scheme to frame Trump for Russian collusion. Six years after her historic loss, however, Democrats are left covering for their own long record of election conspiracies while depicting political opponents as domestic enemies of democracy.<\/p>\n<p>Monday\u2019s hearing primarily remained a regurgitation of the same talking points Americans have been subject to since the outburst of political upheaval on Jan. 6, 2021, with a focus on Trump\u2019s allegations of an illegitimate election and the conspiracy around Dominion Voting Systems in particular.<\/p>\n<p> \u201cThe big lie was also a big rip-off,\u201d Lofgren said, complaining of Trump\u2019s fundraising off claims of a fraudulent contest. Except Democrats were far from shy to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/story\/2017\/08\/17\/trump-russia-investigation-congress-fundraising-241491\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">capitalize<\/a> on the debunked narrative painting the Republican president as a Russian asset. <\/p>\n<p>After failing to capture the White House in 2016, Democrats spent years spouting the conspiracy that Trump was a Russian asset, and even went as far as deploying a deep state coup within the FBI to undermine the will of the voters complete with a two-year special counsel investigation. Despite the effort, Special Counsel Robert Mueller\u2019s probe run with unlimited resources found not one person, let alone Trump himself, colluded with the Russian government. Jan. 6 has merely become the Democrats\u2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/01\/06\/one-year-ago-today-a-new-hoax-was-born\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">latest hoax<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>If mere objections to electoral certification are now criminal, as the Jan. 6 Committee operations indicate, Democrats will still have to answer for their certification protests in 2001, 2005, and 2017. <\/p>\n<p>In 2017, Reps. Jim McGovern, D-Mass., Pramila Jayapal, D-Wash., Raul Grijalva, D-Ariz., Sheila Jackson Lee, D-Texas, Barbara Lee, D-Calif., Maxine Waters, D-Calif., and Jamie Raskin, D-Md., who was an\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2021\/02\/13\/senate-acquits-trump-for-second-time-one-year-after-first-pointless-impeachment\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">impeachment manager<\/a>, each objected to electoral votes when Congress certified President Donald Trump\u2019s triumphant 2016 victory. In fact, Democrats objected to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/fact-check-did-democrats-object-more-states-2016-republicans-2020-1561407\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">more states<\/a>\u00a0in 2017 than Republicans did last year,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2017\/01\/06\/politics\/electoral-college-vote-count-objections\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">citing<\/a>\u00a0Russian interference and alleged voter suppression. Jerry Nadler <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/a-stolen-election\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">decried<\/a>\u00a0the 2004 contest as \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/nadler.house.gov\/news\/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=392145\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">stolen<\/a>\u201d and demanded an investigation of voting machines. In 2000, California Rep. Maxine Waters <a href=\"https:\/\/www.c-span.org\/video\/?c4927332\/user-clip-al-gore-rejects-maxine-waters-electoral-college-objection\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">called<\/a> the results \u201cfraudulent.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Republicans, meanwhile, remain vilified by the partisan witch hunt probe for raising concerns over an election conducted with a cascade of late-game rule changes that featured <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pewresearch.org\/fact-tank\/2021\/01\/28\/turnout-soared-in-2020-as-nearly-two-thirds-of-eligible-u-s-voters-cast-ballots-for-president\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">record-level turnout in the<\/a> form of mail-in voting monopolized by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/media\/mollie-hemingway-mark-zuckerberg-election-facebook-tucker-carlson\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">left-wing private actors<\/a>. <\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\" \/>\n<p>\n  Tristan Justice is the western correspondent for The Federalist.
