MABANGLO<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>There are questions about whether Biden, who would be 82 on inauguration day 2024, can handle a grueling presidential campaign and ramped up media pressure \u2014 especially when he has kept the press at arm\u2019s length by giving fewer interviews than any of his immediate predecessors.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe presidency is a monstrously taxing job and the stark reality is the president would be closer to 90 than 80 at the end of a second term, and that would be a major issue,\u201d David Axelrod, the chief strategist for Barack Obama\u2019s two winning presidential campaigns, told the Times.<\/p>\n<p>Axelrod said the president hasn\u2019t gotten the credit he deserves for piloting the country through the coronavirus pandemic, unifying NATO against Russia\u2019s\u00a0invasion of Ukraine, and \u201crestoring decency and decorum to the White House.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd part of the reason he doesn\u2019t is performative. And so I think we\u2019re lacking in the excitement.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Faiz Shakir, who was Sen. Bernie Sanders\u2019 campaign manager in 2020, said Biden is dogged by a perception of weakness among some Democrats who want him to grapple more forcefully with Republicans.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Shakir said he thinks Biden would defeat Trump a second time, but if Republicans nominate someone like Florida Gov. Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota, Bernie Sanders of Vermont, Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts and Cory Booker of New Jersey \u2014 lost to Biden in the 2020 Democratic primary.<\/p>\n<p>Former Vermont Gov.
