Jerry Brown (D) signed into law the policy that allows illegal aliens to secure driver\u2019s licenses in the state.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_21310067\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/media.breitbart.com\/media\/2022\/06\/GettyImages-539930268.jpg\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\"><em>Then-California Governor Jerry Brown signs Assembly Bill 60, which allows people in the nation illegally to be eligible for California driver\u2019s licenses. (Ted Soqui\/Corbis via Getty Images)<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Whistleblowers close to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) told Breitbart News that California\u2019s sanctuary state policy is a vital tool for smugglers working for the cartels who bring thousands of border crossers and illegal aliens to the United States-Mexico border every day.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>For example, in cases where federal immigration officials are trying to track down smugglers and the illegal aliens they are smuggling, whistleblowers said California local police almost never intervene to help with arrests.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCalifornia officers are not allowed to intervene ever,\u201d a whistleblower said. \u201cAnd the officers will literally say, \u2018We wish we could help but we\u2019re not allowed to.\u2019 The smugglers know all of this.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf the illegal aliens have seatbelts on, the cops won\u2019t call us to report smuggling. So long as they\u2019re following state laws,\u201d another whistleblower said. \u201cThe sheriffs cannot, by law, pick up migrants even if they had an ICE detainer after they finish their sentence, they\u2019ll just let them loose.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Such claims are overwhelmingly supported by county data in California.<\/p>\n<p>Federal immigration officials revealed in 2019 that Los Angeles County, California release <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2019\/10\/24\/feds-sanctuary-los-angeles-releases-100-criminal-illegal-aliens-every-day\/\">about 100 criminal<\/a> illegal aliens from their local custody every day rather than turning them over to ICE agents for arrest and deportation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday, because of the sanctuary policies that are in place, we receive less than five [criminal illegal aliens] which means \u2014 with all things being equal \u2014 there are 70 to 100 criminal aliens hitting the streets of Los Angeles, alone, that is one city within the United States,\u201d former ICE official Timothy Robbins said in congressional testimony at the time.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>John Binder is a reporter for Breitbart News.
