Appearing on CBS\u2019s \u201cFace The Nation\u201d Sunday, the Allianz Chief Economic Advisor said he fears inflation may reach nine percent.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><strong>\u201cWe got here because we got a combination of things happening,\u201d said El-Erian. \u201cAll these things came together and are now feeding this inflation. The price of nearly everything is going up and making us feel really insecure.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>This comes after inflation hit 8.6 percent in May, the highest since December of 1981. El-Erian said their was hope it would be temporary and inflation was partially avoidable, but argued the federal reserve mischaracterized the issue and fell behind.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">More US data disappointments today:<br \/>Consumer sentiment, per the University of Michigan\u2019s measure, fell by 8 points \u2014 more than expected and to its lowest level since the index started in 1952.<br \/>Also worrisome, long-term <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/inflation?src=hash&#038;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#inflation<\/a> expectations rose to 3.3%, the highest since 2008<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Mohamed A. El-Erian (@elerianm) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/elerianm\/status\/1535314531999793154?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">June 10, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Meanwhile, during an interview with CNN Sunday, former Treasury Secretary Larry Summers disagreed with Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen\u2019s recent claims a recession is not in the works.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><strong>\u201cI look at what\u2019s happening in the stock and bond markets,\u201d voiced Summers. \u201cI look at where consumer sentiment is. I think their is certainly a risk of recession in the next year. I think given where we\u2019ve gotten to, it\u2019s more likely than not that we\u2019ll have a recession within the next two years.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>However, even the usual Biden critic took a jab at the GOP, claiming so-called \u201cBanana Republicans\u201d who allegedly fanned the flame of the Jan. 6 protests, are partly at fault for the nation\u2019s economic crisis.<\/p>\n<p>MORE NEWS: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oann.com\/rep-lesko-true-the-votes-findings-merit-investigation\/\">Rep.
