Michael Byrd, who shot and killed unarmed protestor Ashli Babbitt at the Jan. 6 riots, never filed a police report on her death and he had a prior \u2018use of force\u2019 investigation on his record.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"file:\/\/\/Users\/derekellerman\/Downloads\/JW-v-DOJ-Ashli-Babbitt-PROD-2-02462.pdf\">The report<\/a>, the result of a Freedom of Information Act request, also interestingly <span data-ogsc=\"rgb(34, 34, 34)\" data-ogsb=\"white\">reveals that DOJ replaced the words \u201cgroup\u201d and \u201ccrowd\u201d with the word \u201cmob\u201d several times in documents explaining the decision not to prosecute Officer Byrd for Babbitt\u2019s killing.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The killing of Ashli Babbitt by police is notable in that Babbitt, and unarmed Air Force veteran and Trump supporter, was the <a href=\"https:\/\/thepoliticalinsider.com\/tucker-carlson-brags-about-fox-news-refusing-to-air-democrats-january-6-deranged-lecture-live\/?utm_source=home-headline-stories\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">only person killed<\/a> that day.\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The only thing the January 6th committee should be investigating is the murder of Ashli Babbitt.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 thebradfordfile (@thebradfordfile) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/thebradfordfile\/status\/1534724587543461891?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">June 9, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/thepoliticalinsider.com\/capitol-police-officer-who-killed-ashli-babbitt-claims-he-saved-countless-lives\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Capitol Police Officer Who Killed Ashli Babbitt Claims He \u2018Saved Countless Lives\u2019<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<h3>Lt. Michael Byrd Shot And Killed Ashli Babbitt<\/h3>\n<p>Further, the identity of the shooter had been unknown for months, until Lt. Michael Byrd <a href=\"https:\/\/thepoliticalinsider.com\/capitol-police-officer-who-killed-ashli-babbitt-claims-he-saved-countless-lives\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">announced it himself<\/a> in a TV interview.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Investigator Paul Sperry had written for RealClearInvestigations that Byrd had been cleared of wrongdoing <a href=\"https:\/\/thepoliticalinsider.com\/cop-who-killed-ashli-babbitt-was-cleared-of-criminal-wrongdoing-without-interview\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">without any interview<\/a>, and the latest documents from Judicial Review reveal that Byrd \u201cdid not create any police reports or documents relating to the incident, and did not provide an official statement regarding the use of force.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese records show that Lt. Byrd was given special treatment by the Biden DOJ and that there was a miscarriage of justice in the half-baked shooting death investigation of Ashli Babbitt,\u201d Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton claims. \u201cLt. Byrd, who works for Congress, shot an unarmed woman for no good reason. However, there were no CCTV cameras observed or located in the Speaker\u2019s Lobby area.\u201d<\/span><span data-ogsc=\"rgb(34, 34, 34)\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Past documents obtained by Judicial Watch reveal that another officer <a href=\"https:\/\/\/Users\/derekellerman\/Downloads\/JW-v-DC-Babbitt-October-2021-001710-pgs-47-48.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">described Byrd<\/a> as \u201cnervous, teary-eyed, and appeared very upset. His voice also shaky when he called for medical assistance over the radio.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The latest document notes that Lt. Byrd while did not create a police report, he <em>did<\/em> give an account of events to his lawyer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe [Byrd] did not create any police reports or documents relating to the incident, and did not provide an official statement regarding use of force\u201d the note states. \u201cThough he did provide a voluntary \u201cdebrief\u201d and walk-through of the scene with his lawyer.<\/p>\n<p>The final question involves a piece of evidence that has gone missing. A footnote in the report makes mention of it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDuring the debrief of Lieutenant Byrd, he did recall writing a few sentences on an evidence bag the evening of January 6, 2021, at the request of a crime scene officer.
