The violence briefly disrupted the process of lawmakers certifying President Joe Biden&#8217;s victory on Jan. 6, 2021. Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY), the vice chairwoman of the committee, outlined what she said was Trump&#8217;s <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2022\/06\/09\/politics\/jan-6-hearing-cheney-trump-overturn-election-plan\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u201csophisticated seven-point plan\u201d<\/a> to overturn the 2020 presidential election, including what he did or didn&#8217;t do on Jan. 6.<\/p>\n<p><b><a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n<p>The hearing on Thursday featured some never-before-seen video footage of the riot as well as <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/house\/capitol-police-officer-slipping-peoples-blood-jan-6\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">testimony from witnesses<\/a>, including Trump&#8217;s former spokesman Jason Miller, who <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JasonMillerinDC\/status\/1535057580355387392\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">claimed the display<\/a> <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JasonMillerinDC\/status\/1535091424160620546\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">lacked important context<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Rep. <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/bennie-thompson\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bennie Thompson<\/a> (D-MS), the chairman of the Jan. 6 committee, told CNN&#8217;s Jake Tapper after the hearing that the panel would be <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/house\/proud-boys-oath-keepers-contact-trump-inner-circle-jan-6-chairman\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">willing to release the full transcript<\/a> of the deposition, but he declined to say when that might happen.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Former President Donald Trump blasted the House committee investigating the Capitol riot after it held its first prime-time hearing on Thursday night.
