Wade.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>\u201cI want to tell you, Gorsuch; I want to tell you, Kavanaugh; You have released the whirlwind, and you will pay the price,\u201d Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said in 2020.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Nicholas John Roske, a 26-year-old man, was arrested near Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh\u2019s home Wednesday morning and charged with attempted murder, according to multiple reports.<\/p>\n<p>He was armed with a gun, a tactical knife and pepper spray at the time of his arrest and told police he planned to kill Kavanaugh to give his life a \u201cpurpose,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.documentcloud.org\/documents\/22056105-us-v-nicholas-john-roske-charging-documents\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">according<\/a> to a federal affidavit. Roske told investigators he was upset about a leaked draft opinion revealing the court would likely overturn Roe v. Wade and about the recent school <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/06\/01\/uvalde-texas-door-unlocked-shooting-elementary-school-police\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">shooting<\/a> in Uvalde, Texas. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/06\/09\/pro-abortion-violence-arson-brett-kavanaugh-murder-protest\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Media, White House Warned About Right-Wing Abortion Extremism \u2014 They\u2019ve Been Completely Wrong)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Democrats have been slow to condemn threats and intimidation of justices after a <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/05\/02\/supreme-court-roe-v-wade-samuel-alito-politico\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">leaked<\/a> draft opinion revealed that the court would likely overturn Roe, initially <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2022\/05\/02\/supreme-court-abortion-draft-opinion-00029473\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reported<\/a> by Politico. They excused and in one case encouraged protests in front of justices\u2019 private homes after the pro-abortion group \u201cRuth Sent Us\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/05\/05\/left-wing-group-conservative-scotus-justices-roe-v-wade-leak\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">published<\/a> what it claims are the home addresses of the six conservatives on the court.<\/p>\n<p>Roske told authorities he had found Kavanaugh\u2019s address online, according to the affidavit.<\/p>\n<p>The White House <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/05\/06\/biden-white-house-supreme-court-justice-address-protest-conservative\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">refused<\/a> to condemn the protests and <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/05\/06\/psaki-bidenpro-abortion-protesters-influence-scotus-justices\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">wouldn\u2019t say<\/a> whether it wanted the protests to change justices\u2019 minds about the decision. Several legal experts said picketing a judge\u2019s home with the intent to influence their rulings is illegal, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/2022\/05\/11\/protest-justice-home-illegal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">according<\/a> to The Washington Post.<\/p>\n<p>While Republicans vocally condemned the protests, most Democrats who spoke to the press about the issue did not object to them, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/minutes\/congress\/05-10-2022\/protesting-tactics\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">according<\/a> to Politico.<\/p>\n<p>Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said he had no issue with protests outside justices\u2019 homes in a May 10 press conference.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Q: \u201cAre you comfortable with the protests that we saw outside the homes of Supreme Court justices over the weekend?\u201d<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SenSchumer?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@SenSchumer<\/a>: \u201cIf protests are peaceful; yes. My house, there\u2019s protests 3-4 times a week outside my house,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Schumer previously <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/05\/10\/chuck-schumer-threatened-neil-gorsuch-brett-kavanaugh-voting-wrong-abortion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">threatened<\/a> conservative justices in a 2020 speech as the court considered a different abortion case.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want to tell you, Gorsuch; I want to tell you, Kavanaugh; You have released the whirlwind, and you will pay the price. You won\u2019t know what hit you if you go forward with these awful decisions,\u201d Schumer said.<\/p>\n<p>Democratic New Hampshire Sen. Local law enforcement then received a call from someone identifying as Roske who said he was suicidal, armed with a gun and planning to kill a Supreme Court justice.<\/p>\n<p>Local police were quickly dispatched and arrested Roske while he was still on the phone, according to the affidavit. Authorities seized his luggage, which also contained zip ties, a hammer, a screwdriver, a nail punch and various other items.<\/p>\n<p>Roske told U.S. Magistrate Judge Timothy J. Sullivan that he was on medication but had a clear enough head to understand the proceedings during a Wednesday court appearance, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/dc-md-va\/2022\/06\/08\/kavanaugh-threat-arrest-justice\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">according<\/a> to The Washington Post. He consented to being detained until his trial and waived his right to a bond hearing.<\/p>\n<p>The White House, Schumer and Shaheen did not respond to The Daily Caller News Foundation\u2019s request for comment.
