Roske allegedly said he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/police-arrest-armed-man-near-brett-kavanaughs-home-who-allegedly-wanted-to-kill-the-justice-report\">wanted to kill<\/a> the justice.<\/p>\n<p>A DOJ\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/s3.documentcloud.org\/documents\/22056069\/roskenicholas.pdf\">affidavit details<\/a>\u00a0how Roske allegedly traveled to Kavanaugh\u2019s home armed with weapons and burglary tools with the intent to kill the justice and prevent him from ruling on\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/second-amendment\">Second Amendment<\/a>\u00a0and abortion cases.<\/p>\n<p>In a joint statement issued Friday by U.S. Attorney Matthew Graves and Assistant Director in Charge of the FBI Washington Field Office Steven D\u2019Antuono, authorities said that they \u201care committed to protecting the First Amendment rights of all Americans to express their views peacefully during demonstrations that take place on a regular basis in the nation\u2019s capital, including at the Supreme Court.\u201d<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Joint Statement from U.S. Attorney Matthew M. D&#8217;Antuono of the FBI Washington Field Office <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/XVQ7dPo4HC\">https:\/\/t.co\/XVQ7dPo4HC<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/FBIWFO?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@FBIWFO<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 U.S. Attorney DC (@USAO_DC) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/USAO_DC\/status\/1535265610111803399?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">June 10, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe also have a responsibility to ensure public safety and the orderly conduct of government business,\u201d the statement said. \u201cWe will not tolerate violence, destruction, interference with government functions, or trespassing on government property.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The joint statement also said that it is \u201ccommitted to working closely with our local, state, and federal law enforcement partners to stop any individuals who intend to commit violence or criminal activity under the guise of carrying out a demonstration.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Roske found Kavanaugh\u2019s address online, the affidavit said. Pro-abortion advocates with a group called Ruth Sent Us had posted the address online, sparking heavy criticism from those who feared for the justices\u2019 safety. Ruth Sent Us did not respond to a request for comment from\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/\">The Daily Wire<\/a>, but put out a <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RuthSentUs\/status\/1534550021739163648\">statement<\/a> saying they do not \u201csupport violence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Roske told authorities that he was upset about the \u201cleak of a recent Supreme Court draft decision regarding the right to abortion as well as the recent school shooting in Uvalde, Texas,\u201d indicating that \u201che believed the Justice that he intended to kill would side with Second Amendment decisions that would loosen gun control laws.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRoske stated that he began thinking about how to give his life a purpose and decided that he would kill the Supreme Court Justice after finding the Justice\u2019s Montgomery County address on the Internet,\u201d the affidavit said. \u201cRoske further indicated that he had purchased the Glock pistol and other items for the purpose of breaking into the Justice\u2019s residence and killing the Justice as well as himself.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It is not immediately clear whether the Kavanaugh family was at home when this incident occurred. The FBI would not comment further to The Daily Wire on the family\u2019s whereabouts.<\/p>\n<p>On Thursday, House Speaker\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/nancy-pelosi\">Nancy Pelosi<\/a>\u00a0(D-CA) denied House Minority Leader\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/kevin-mccarthy\">Kevin McCarthy<\/a>\u2018s (R-CA) second unanimous consent request to immediately pass a Supreme Court security bill to enhance protections for the justices, announcing that the House will vote on the bill next week.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe had hoped that we could do it today but we certainly will do it at the beginning of next week,\u201d Pelosi <a href=\"https:\/\/www.speaker.gov\/newsroom\/6922-2\">told<\/a> reporters on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>The speaker of the house also told reporters that the justices are protected, firing back at a reporter who pointed out that there was an attempted assassination, \u201cThe justices are protected. This issue is not about the justices, it\u2019s about staff and the rest. The justices are protected; you saw the attorney general even double down on that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut this is about security for the justices; an armed man showed up near Justice Kavanaugh\u2019s house,\u201d the reporter persisted, to which Pelosi responded: \u201cWe are working together on the bill that the Senate will be able to approve of \u2026 we can pass whatever we want to, we want it to be able to pass the Senate.
