The leading executive\u2019s contract, which doesn\u2019t expire until 2024, will be paid out.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cChapek told Rice that he was not a fit in \u2018the new Disney culture,\u2019 to which Rice said words to the effect that he thought they were in the midst of building the new Disney culture,\u201d The Hollywood Reporter\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/business\/business-news\/disneys-peter-rice-ousted-in-major-executive-shake-up-1235161999\/\">reported<\/a>. \u201cHe asked in what way he did not fit and Chapek responded, \u2018Now is not the time\u2019 and dismissed him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The New York Times similarly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2022\/06\/09\/business\/disney-peter-rice.html\">reported<\/a> that their sources said Rice was ousted because he was an \u201cill fit with Disney\u2019s corporate culture.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Times said the ouster \u201cwent off like a sonic boom in Hollywood,\u201d where Rice \u201cis widely admired.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMany people in the entertainment business (outside Disney, at least) have even seen Mr. Rice as a possible candidate to succeed Mr. Chapek as Disney\u2019s chief executive,\u201d the report said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMr. Chapek\u2019s decision is sure to generate questions about whether that chatter got a little too loud; Mr. Chapek has had a difficult few months, with Disney becoming a political punching bag, particularly for Gov.
