Now, it\u2019s sriracha sauce.<\/p>\n<p>Americans may have a hard time getting their hands on the classic spicy condiment, according to a Wednesday report from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/2022\/06\/08\/sriracha-shortage-2022-chili-peppers\">Axios<\/a>. An April <a href=\"https:\/\/www.callifd.com\/uploads\/1\/3\/0\/7\/130789654\/chili_pepper_shortage_2022.pdf\">letter<\/a> from Huy Fong Foods \u2014 the California-based company known for producing the popular sriracha brand featuring a rooster on the bottle \u2014 warned consumers that a \u201cshortage of chili pepper inventory\u201d may limit the availability of the product.<\/p>\n<p>The news comes as the United States continues to grapple with supply chain shortages. Since the fall of 2021, Americans have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/washington-post-op-ed-dont-whine-about-supply-chain-shortages-empty-shelves\">voiced frustration<\/a> with the low availability of key groceries in local stores.<\/p>\n<p>Huy Fong Foods informed Axios that it hopes to \u201cresume production as normal\u201d with the fall harvest \u2014 meaning that orders made after April 19 will be moved to Labor Day or later.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDuring this time we will not accept any new orders to be placed before September as we will not have enough inventory to fulfill your order,\u201d the company said in its letter, which noted that the chili shortage will impact the rest of their products as well. Restaurants across the United States \u2014 for example, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/BradysSushi\/?__cft__%5b0%5d=AZVgtn27K5dJRbU5aarnfHICkROnGBV6_LITWwc6myfccbWsPqqTlZbc7GK56sft2RzO0tjQD3dZ--IHb6CjjhEHmMtfqmZqu8s4yaOTrIc-OAJBnBFpPBthxnDqS1gx3I-lyMiqtyCGp__yWVYXzEd4uP8Ua_xvQ9AWpEzrUQMSqKHIk5aUmKzerfUxHHAYyF4&#038;__tn__=kC%2CP-R\">Brady\u2019s Sushi and Hibachi<\/a> in Richmond, Kentucky, as featured by Axios \u2014 warned their customers via social media that they would not be able to offer the product.<\/p>\n<p>Huy Fong Foods sources its peppers from Mexico which, alongside the western United States, is enduring a drought. As covered by Daily Wire reporter <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/author\/charlotte-pence-bond\">Charlotte Pence Bond<\/a>, persistent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/gweditingthe-fertilizer-crisis-impacting-california-farmers\">agricultural bottlenecks<\/a> are plaguing American farmers.<\/p>\n<p>A fertilizer crisis, for example, is likely poised to disrupt food supply chains. The Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kansascityfed.org\/agriculture\/turmoil-in-commodity-markets-following-russias-invasion-of-ukraine\/\">indicated<\/a> that fertilizer expenses had risen 90% from the year before, as of February. A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ifpri.org\/blog\/high-fertilizer-prices-contribute-rising-global-food-security-concerns\">report<\/a> by the International Food Policy Research Institute from April likewise revealed that market prices for food and fertilizer increased 125% from January 2021 to January 2022, spiking again after Russia began its invasion of Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p>Ukraine and Russia combined <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalgeographic.com\/environment\/article\/war-in-ukraine-could-plunge-world-into-food-shortages#:~:text=If%20they%20don%27t%20succeed,12%20percent%20of%20its%20calories.\">produce<\/a> approximately 12% of the world\u2019s calories, as well as 30% of the world\u2019s traded wheat. Much of the world has seen a surge in gas prices since the beginning of the Ukraine invasion \u2014 likewise increasing costs for farmers around the world.<\/p>\n<p>In response to the continued global crises, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/pretty-bleak-international-economic-organization-issues-new-warning-about-soaring-inflation-famine\">decreased<\/a> its 2022 world economic growth forecasts earlier this week from 4.5% to 3%.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe economic outlook is pretty bleak,\u201d OECD Deputy Secretary-General and French economist Laurence Boone explained. \u201cAs the war continues, it is pushing up inflation and slowing growth.
