Her remarks came after authorities arrested a man near <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/supreme-court\">Supreme Court<\/a> Justice <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/brett-kavanaugh\">Brett Kavanaugh<\/a>\u2018s home who allegedly said he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/police-arrest-armed-man-near-brett-kavanaughs-home-who-allegedly-wanted-to-kill-the-justice-report\">wanted to kill<\/a> the justice.<\/p>\n<p>The speaker of the house also told reporters that the justices are protected, firing back at a reporter who pointed out that there was an attempted assassination, \u201cThe justices are protected. This issue is not about the justices, it\u2019s about staff and the rest. So I don\u2019t know what you\u2019re talking about because evidently you haven\u2019t seen what the \u2026 language is.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere will be a bill,\u201d she added. \u201cNobody is in danger over the weekend because of our not having a bill.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday,\u00a0Pelosi\u2019s Deputy Chief of Staff Drew Hammill told The Daily Wire that Pelosi \u201cbelieves that violence against public officials has no place in civilized society\u201d and that the house speaker \u201ccondemns this abhorrent criminal act.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>McCarthy heavily criticized House Democrats for blocking the bill in a Thursday tweet.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSpeaker Pelosi has been sitting on this bill for a month and today claimed \u2018nobody is in danger,\u2019\u201d he said. \u201cShe should tell that to the Kavanaugh family.\u201d<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">For the second time, House Democrats BLOCKED a bill to provide more security for Supreme Court justices and their families.<\/p>\n<p>Speaker Pelosi has been sitting on this bill for a month and today claimed \u201cnobody is in danger\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>She should tell that to the Kavanaugh family. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/4HPqZC3MMN\">pic.twitter.com\/4HPqZC3MMN<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Kevin McCarthy (@GOPLeader) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/GOPLeader\/status\/1534963190991360001?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">June 9, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The White House has not responded to requests for comment from The Daily Wire as to whether the president supports Pelosi\u2019s delay on the bill.<\/p>\n<p>The Senate <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/senate-unanimously-passes-bill-to-protect-supreme-court-justices-families-amid-leftist-protests\">passed the legislation unanimously<\/a> in May, but it has been stalled in the House of Representatives, prompting sharp criticism from Republicans who say that the bill should be passed immediately to protect the justices. House Democrats reportedly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/house-democrats-stall-measure-boosting-security-scotus-justices-bill-law-clerks\">want the bill<\/a> to also include protection for clerks and other Supreme Court staff.<\/p>\n<p>When House Minority Whip Steve Scalise (R-LA) asked House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-MD) why leading Democrats had not put the bill to a vote, Hoyer responded that this was a \u201cvery relevant question.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHopefully can move that as early as possible,\u201d he said, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2022\/06\/09\/politics\/supreme-court-security-legislation-house-vote-pelosi\/index.html\">according<\/a> to CNN. \u201cI want to tell the gentleman the reason he thought that it might be moving this morning was because last night I thought I had after discussions with Sen. Cornyn, a way forward both the Senate and the House could agree on.
