On Thursday, soaring gas prices reached a new record and will soon eclipse a nationwide average of $5 per gallon in the coming days if not Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Seventy-seven percent of Americans, meanwhile, disapprove of Congress\u2019 job performance in its highest disapproval since 2016, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.monmouth.edu\/polling-institute\/documents\/monmouthpoll_us_051222.pdf\/#page=4\">according<\/a> to a Monmouth University poll from May. More than 2 in 5 Americans, or 44 percent, believe \u201ctoo much is being made\u201d of the Capitol riot and that \u201cit\u2019s time to move on,\u201d in another <a href=\"https:\/\/poll.qu.edu\/poll-release?releaseid=3831\">survey<\/a> from Quinnipiac out in January.<\/p>\n<p>In March, Democrats on the House\u2019s sham Jan. 6 Committee desperate to change the narrative ahead of an already hostile election cycle to the president\u2019s party <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/03\/19\/democrats-admit-jan-6-committee-is-all-about-midterms\/\">conceded<\/a> to The Washington Post their work was all about the midterms. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey hope their recommendations to prevent another insurrection will be adopted, but also that their work will repel voters from Republicans who they say helped propel the attack,\u201d the Post reported. <\/p>\n<p>To spearhead the dramatic production of Thursday\u2019s Capitol Hill soap opera, the Select Committee <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/06\/07\/former-abc-news-president-producing-primetime-j6-show-trial-hearings\/\">recruited<\/a> former ABC News President James Goldston. <\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\" \/>\n<p>\n  Tristan Justice is the western correspondent for The Federalist.
