The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) confirmed Congress has not approved a new stimulus plan.<\/p>\n<p><span><strong>Fact Check:\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) recently warned against \u201cscams involving jobs, stimulus checks and tax refunds,\u201d according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2022\/06\/07\/beware-of-scams-involving-jobs-stimulus-checks-and-tax-refunds-irs-warns.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">CNBC<\/a>. IRS Commissioner Chuck Rettig said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irs.gov\/newsroom\/irs-continues-with-dirty-dozen-this-week-urging-taxpayers-to-continue-watching-out-for-pandemic-related-scams-including-theft-of-benefits-and-bogus-social-media-posts\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">June 6 press release<\/a> that scammers are using the pandemic as a way to obtain personal information from individuals.<\/p>\n<p>The latest example appears to be a June 1 post shared on Facebook that claims Americans can expect a new round of $1,400 stimulus checks to start \u201cgoing out this weekend.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"jsc_c_74\" class=\"l9j0dhe7\">\n<div class=\"l9j0dhe7\">\n<div class=\"b3i9ofy5 l9j0dhe7\">\n<div class=\"j83agx80 soycq5t1 ni8dbmo4 stjgntxs l9j0dhe7\">\n<div class=\"bp9cbjyn cwj9ozl2 j83agx80 cbu4d94t ni8dbmo4 stjgntxs l9j0dhe7 k4urcfbm\">\n<div class=\"do00u71z ni8dbmo4 stjgntxs l9j0dhe7\">This claim is misleading. While some individual states, including Maine and New Mexico, are sending additional stimulus payments to some residents, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/stimulus-check-update-these-states-will-send-out-payments-june-1710862\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Newsweek<\/a>, there is no evidence to suggest the federal government is issuing another round of stimulus checks. The federal government issued three rounds of stimulus checks to combat the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, with the most recent being $1,400 checks distributed beginning in March 2021, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usa.gov\/covid-stimulus-checks#:~:text=With%20Vaccines.gov-,COVID%2D19%20Stimulus%20Checks%20for%20Individuals,%241%2C400%20in%20March%202021\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">USA.gov<\/a>.<\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>\u201cThis is a wildly inaccurate claim that has been circulating on some social media sites for months,\u201d reads a statement the IRS emailed to Check Your Fact. \u201cPeople shouldn\u2019t fall for this. No new stimulus payment program has been approved by Congress.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are no stimulus checks going out in the US this weekend,\u201d said Howard Gleckman, a senior fellow at the\u00a0Urban-Brookings Tax Policy Center, in an email to Check Your Fact. \u201cCongress has not authorized any additional stimulus checks for anytime in the future. The Biden Administration has no plans to send out additional checks.
