(Saul Loeb\/Pool via AP, File)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h5>OAN NEWSROOM<br \/>UPDATED 10:31 AM PT \u2013 Wednesday, June 8, 2022<\/h5>\n<p>Dozens of women filed federal tort claims against the FBI over it\u2019s mishandling of sexual abuse allegations against disgraced former USA gymnastics Doctor Larry Nassar.<\/p>\n<p>The claims were reportedly filed Wednesday, on behalf of more than 90 women who were abused by Nassar and seek more than $1 billion in damages. Among those seeking damages are Olympic winning gold medalist Simon Biles, Aly Raisman and Mckayla Maroney.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><strong>\u201cIf the FBI had simply done it\u2019s job, Nassar would have been stopped before he ever had the chance to abuse hundreds of girls, including me,\u201d said former University of Michigan gymnast Samantha Roy.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">NEW:<br \/>More than 90 gymnasts file $1 billion in claims against the FBI for mishandling the Larry Nassar investigation, claiming the agency failed to protect them from Nassar and warned them about his predatory behavior<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Stephanie Myers (@_StephanieMyers) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/_StephanieMyers\/status\/1534507475029790720?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">June 8, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>A report from the DOJ\u2019s inspector general last year found the agency failed to act after agents received the first allegations against Nassar back in 2015. FBI Director Christopher Wray acknowledged major mistakes.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><strong>\u201cI\u2019m especially sorry that there were people at the FBI who had their own chance to stop this monster back in 2015 and failed, voiced Wray. \u201cThat\u2019s inexcusable.\u201d\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>At that same hearing, Biles shared that an \u201centire system\u201d enabled the abuse. Maroney recalled \u201cdead silence\u201d when she talked to FBI agents about Nassar.<\/p>\n<p>The Justice Department in May said that it would not pursue criminal charges against former agents who were accused of giving inaccurate or incomplete responses during the inspector general\u2019s investigation.<\/p>\n<p>Michigan State University agreed to pay $500 million to more than 300 women and girls who were assaulted by Nassar.
