The arrest follows <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/courts\/homeland-security-prepares-for-violence-after-supreme-court-abortion-ruling\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a warning<\/a> issued by the Department of Homeland Security last month that noted the potential increased threat of violence to justices, clerks, and clergy, which could heighten after the official ruling. The would-be assassin was taken into custody with a knife, pepper spray, and a gun, according to an NBC News report.<\/p>\n<p>The breach near Kavanaugh\u2019s home is the latest threat to the Court. The <em>Washington Free Beacon<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/courts\/shut-it-down-radical-leftwing-group-plans-to-blockade-supreme-court\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/courts\/shut-it-down-radical-leftwing-group-plans-to-blockade-supreme-court\/&#038;source=gmail&#038;ust=1654788904739000&#038;usg=AOvVaw3Qb7z4hSaBRT8j4LFoA5d8\">reported<\/a> in May that a radical leftwing group, ShutdownDC, is crafting plans to obstruct three critical points on Capitol Hill to block access to the Court building altogether on June 13. At a briefing the <em>Free Beacon<\/em> attended, one organizer said the group\u2019s goal is to &#8220;expand the current political crisis.&#8221; A\u00a0<em>New York Times<\/em> opinion writer in May <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/media\/nyt-writer-urged-activists-to-escalate-protests-targeting-kavanaugh\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">had also urged<\/a> pro-abortion activists to escalate protests targeting Kavanaugh.<\/p>\n<p>The Senate passed a bipartisan measure beefing up Court security in May, after leftwing groups began picketing the justices\u2019 homes. The bill is <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/courts\/house-dems-insert-poison-pill-into-emergency-bill-to-add-security-for-superme-court-justices\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/courts\/house-dems-insert-poison-pill-into-emergency-bill-to-add-security-for-superme-court-justices\/&#038;source=gmail&#038;ust=1654788904739000&#038;usg=AOvVaw2Xpe4MuXDAUccI9WaPjaq7\">languishing<\/a> in the House, where Democrats have shown no urgency about the issue. A senior GOP congressional aide told the <em>Free Beacon<\/em> that Democrats hope the protests will energize their base ahead of the midterms and &#8220;have every intention of riding it out as long as they can.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"m_-3212937536106903439gmail-docs-internal-guid-890bc186-7fff-68b0-178b-28b9b9d4f2a2\">Some House Democrats are pushing a poison pill provision that would extend security to law clerks or other Court staff. A Senate aide told the <em>Free Beacon<\/em> that measure is dead on arrival in the Senate.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The foiled attack comes as leftwing violence to pro-life advocates is on the rise. Abortion activists on Tuesday <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/latest-news\/abortion-activists-firebomb-another-pro-life-office\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">firebombed a pro-life pregnancy center<\/a> in Buffalo, N.Y., <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/latest-news\/mostly-peaceful-pro-abortion-extremists-firebomb-pro-life-office\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the second attack of its kind<\/a> since the leaked\u00a0<em>Dobbs<\/em> v.\u00a0<em>Jackson Women&#8217;s Health<\/em> opinion.
