Discussing his own mortality, Saget stated, \u201cI\u2019m proud of myself because I\u2019m onto a new thing. At 65, I\u2019m different than I was.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Saget explained that as he grew up, one or another of his relatives was dying every two years, remembering, \u201cWe had so many deaths growing up, that my dad would just instill [the notion of enjoying life] in me. \u2026 He didn\u2019t teach it to me, I just saw how he reacted.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[The deaths] started when I was like seven, and then every two years somebody died. \u2026 [I had] a cousin die \u2013 she died at 23 of cancer after giving birth to her child \u2013 and then a lot of cousins went through a lot of hardships, so I was like 9,10, 11, 12, 14\u201d when they died.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was a lot,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s so much pain, and my parents couldn\u2019t deal with it,\u201d \u00a0he recalled. \u201cAnd every time they finally started to regroup, something else terrible happened.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Four of Saget\u2019s father\u2019s siblings died young of heart attacks, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-10893221\/Bob-Saget-described-mortality-fortunately-changed-newly-released-podcast.html\">The Daily Mail<\/a> noted. \u00a0When Saget\u2019s last surviving uncle on his dad\u2019s side died at 78, Saget\u2019s father , then 85, spoke at the funeral. Saget recalled, \u201cHe gave the best speech.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd his ending was something like, \u2018I\u2019ll see you in 30 years, Joe.\u2019 And it\u2019s so good to close with something sweet that makes people feel the love,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI just don\u2019t have the same way of doing humor or conversation,\u201d Saget stated of his state of mind. \u201cI guess therapy, having three kids, watching people pass away in the past few years, mortality, all that stuff has fortunately changed me. \u2026 My kids tell me, \u2018Dad, you\u2019re different. It\u2019s so nice to watch you grow.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Saget\u2019s sisters died before him; \u00a0his sister Gay died in 1994 of scleroderma, prompting him to push for a \u00a0made-for-television movie about the starring Dana Delaney playing a character based on his sister. He told Rahim, \u201cThat\u2019s the best part about being an only child, man. You don\u2019t have to worry about losing a sibling.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeople who have accomplished great things and are consistently reaching to do something else are fighting against finality,\u201d Rahim commented. \u201cLike you say, \u2018Well this could be my last job, every job could be my last job.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWell I don\u2019t have that. I got rid of that. I do not possess that,\u201d Saget replied.<\/p>\n<p>A report issued after Saget\u2019s death stated that he told crew backstage before his last concert the night he died that he felt sick. That information came from audio of interviews conducted by Orange County Sheriff\u2019s Office that included one with showrunner Rosalie Cocci, who told investigators that Saget had been complaining about his health before the performance.<\/p>\n<p>A transcript from\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-10643801\/Bob-Saget-told-crew-backstage-final-not-feeling-well.html\">the Daily Mail<\/a>\u00a0of the interview said Cocci stated:<\/p>\n<p><em>He said he had long term Covid, and it was taking his body a long time to get over it. \u2026 He said that his hearing had been off and that was the case that night. He was asking the sound guys to turn everything up. And that he had been sick the night before \u2013 his hearing was off, and he had a sore throat. He was happy he had lozenges for the stage. \u2026 I did hear him say, \u201cI don\u2019t feel good but I\u2019m ready to do the show. This is what I do this for.\u201d \u2026 He seemed to be talking himself up.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Cocci continued by saying of Saget\u2019s performance, which lasted two hours, \u201cHe seemed okay. He was cracking jokes.
