They\u2019ve been clear that they aren\u2019t interested in talking about effective solutions that don\u2019t involve gun-grabbing, so they probably also don\u2019t want to talk about who\u2019s responsible for America\u2019s unsettling crime wave: the left.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, as of late Tuesday night, the Associated Press projected that San Francisco voters had <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sfgate.com\/elections\/article\/Chesa-Boudin-recall-results-in-San-Francisco-17226495.php\">handily recalled<\/a> left-wing District Attorney Chesa Boudin, whose soft-on-crime policies wreaked havoc on the California city. <\/p>\n<p>While a prosecutor recall might seem disconnected from an uptick in mass shootings and subsequent gun-control chatter, the two are intertwined. Just as the humanitarian crisis at the border is the predictable result of the left\u2019s open-borders policies, our crime wave is the inevitable result of their anti-punitive philosophy of criminal justice. And the biggest culprits are progressive prosecutors like Boudin who champion Democrats\u2019  policies and  have been <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2020\/09\/19\/why-arent-we-allowed-to-talk-about-george-soross-plan-to-remake-america\/\">installed across the country<\/a> after being <a href=\"https:\/\/www.heritage.org\/crime-and-justice\/commentary\/meet-chesa-boudin-the-rogue-prosecutor-wreaking-havoc-san-francisco\">bankrolled by left-wing radicals<\/a> like George Soros and other groups. <\/p>\n<h2>Prosecutors Who Don\u2019t Prosecute<\/h2>\n<p>According to a new <a href=\"http:\/\/www.policedefense.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Justice_For_Sale_LELDF_report.pdf\">report<\/a> out from the Law Enforcement Legal Defense Fund (LELDF), Soros alone has poured a staggering $40 million into prosecutor races to help elect 75 leftists that have contributed to the crime wave, and he\u2019s just one of many billionaires working to destroy law and order, influence elections, control the media, and otherwise destroy the country.<\/p>\n<p>The left and its skeptics continue to use guns as a scapegoat and say there\u2019s no direct correlation between left-wing prosecutorial philosophies and crime, but the evidence suggests otherwise. According to the LELDF report, more than 40 percent of the roughly 22,500 homicides in 2021 \u2014 so more than 9,000 \u2014 happened in these 75 district attorneys\u2019 jurisdictions, which accounted for more than one-third of last year\u2019s violent crimes and property crime. <\/p>\n<p>These DAs\u2019 decisions produce consequences even in the areas they don\u2019t oversee, however, since there\u2019s nothing keeping released offenders in the prosecutors\u2019 jurisdictions. Light sentences, low cash bail, and other slaps on the wrist send criminals right back onto their streets and those of their neighbors. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese radical activists now preside over 72 million Americans and 40% of US homicides,\u201d said LELDF President Jason Johnson, noting that Soros has already spent another $1 million to date this year to boost his preferred prosecutors. \u201cSoros is using that campaign money and the hundreds of millions more for supporting organizations to quietly transform the criminal justice system for the worse, promoting dangerous policies and anti-police narratives to advance his radical agenda.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The country saw the effects of progressive prosecutors up close over the last holiday season. The <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2021\/11\/23\/amid-unspeakable-horrors-waukesha-teaches-all-of-us-what-it-means-to-be-a-community\/\">Waukesha parade<\/a> murderer didn\u2019t need a firearm. To kill six people and injure 62 more, he needed only a vehicle, a soft-on-crime district attorney\u2019s office that let him out on a <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2021\/12\/03\/district-attorneys-sorry-waukesha-excuses-plus-bad-bail-laws-are-a-recipe-for-more-disaster-in-wisconsin\/\">pittance of bail<\/a>, and leftist policies that \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2021\/11\/24\/da-who-let-waukesha-suspect-out-on-bail-guaranteed-his-policies-would-kill-someone-someday\/\">guaranteed<\/a>\u201d offenders would kill people. It\u2019s evil like that, enabled by leftist policy failures, that expose America\u2019s crime problem as being so much bigger than a few psychopaths with guns.<\/p>\n<h2>Democrats\u2019 Progressive Dream<\/h2>\n<p>But the rise in crime is much bigger than Soros and 75 district attorneys too. More fundamentally, it\u2019s the predictable result of a long list of so-called leftist policy goals and beliefs that are prevalent not only among the radicals of the left, but also among the mainstream Democrat Party.<\/p>\n<p>For a particularly grotesque example, look at cities in blue bastion California \u2014 particularly Boudin\u2019s San Francisco, where the sidewalks are <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2019\/05\/08\/san-franciscans-fiddle-streets-riddled-needles-feces\/\">littered<\/a> with used needles, passed-out junkies, and homeless encampments, and street sightings of human feces number <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sfgate.com\/bay-area-politics\/article\/San-Francisco-poop-problem-stats-streets-feces-new-16311073.php\">in the tens of thousands<\/a> each year. Facing an <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2021\/07\/06\/california-stores-closing-early-as-unpunished-theft-explodes\/\">explosion in shoplifting<\/a>, retailers in Los Angeles, Sacramento, and San Francisco were helpless to do anything but reduce store hours. As a Wall Street Journal article <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/san-francisco-shoplifters-theft-walgreens-decriminalized-11634678239\">noted<\/a> in October 2021, \u201cWalgreens has closed 22 stores in [San Francisco], where thefts under $950 are effectively decriminalized.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That little $950 tidbit is courtesy of Democrats\u2019 woke <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2019\/11\/01\/californias-woke-prop-47-doomed-cities-with-crime-rings-and-theft\/\">Proposition 47<\/a>, which more than doubled the amount a person could steal before facing a felony. In other words, Prop 47 reclassified felonies as no-biggie misdemeanors. Crime in the Bay Area has gotten so bad that even Democrat Mayor London Breed was forced to <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2021\/12\/15\/san-francisco-mayor-announces-crime-crackdown-on-all-the-bullsh-t-that-has-destroyed-our-city\/\">admit<\/a> that the left\u2019s soft-on-crime approach has led to \u201call the bullsh-t that has destroyed\u201d San Francisco. <\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, in 2021, Los Angeles experienced its highest number of homicides in 15 years, and looters ran rampant on that area\u2019s train tracks, with some railroad companies <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lamag.com\/citythinkblog\/new-crime-stats-revealed-homicides-in-los-angeles-soared-in-2021\/\">reporting<\/a> a \u201c160% increase in criminal rail theft,\u201d and \u201capproximately $5 million in claims, losses and damages\u201d to the train companies alone.<\/p>\n<h2>The Left\u2019s Culture of Crime<\/h2>\n<p>The crime wave isn\u2019t confined to California, though. It\u2019s swept through Democrats\u2019 strongholds across the rest of the country too. As The Federalist\u2019s Jordan Boyd <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/01\/18\/our-country-is-being-destroyed-by-leftists-unwillingness-to-punish-murderers-looters-and-street-poopers\/\">wrote<\/a> in January, \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/01\/17\/nypd-data-shows-serious-crimes-up-despite-adams-claims\/\">New York<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/us\/less-half-dc-murders-solved-deteriorating-police-trust-criminologists\">D.C.<\/a>, and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/local\/chicago\/2021\/12\/20\/chicago-violent-crime-gun-violence-statistics-2021\">Chicago<\/a>\u00a0all saw\u00a0\u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/murders-in-u-s-cities-were-near-record-highs-in-2021-11641499978\">record-high<\/a>\u2018\u00a0murders in 2021 while Philadelphia; Portland, Oregon; Louisville, Kentucky; and Albuquerque, New Mexico, \u2018had their deadliest years on record.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And let\u2019s not forget the scores of rioters, looters, and vandals who went unpunished after the 2020 summer of rage that resulted in <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2020\/09\/16\/riots-following-george-floyds-death-could-cost-up-to-2b\/\">billions of dollars<\/a> in damages. In fact, rather than condemn them, prominent Democrats including our very own Vice President Kamala Harris <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2020\/08\/31\/meet-the-rioting-criminals-kamala-harris-helped-bail-out-of-jail\/\">helped bail out of jail<\/a> those who were caught. It was Minneapolis Democrats who voted to dismantle its police department in 2020, enabling a crime wave there. And Democrat lawmakers joined the chorus of those calling to \u201cdefund the police,\u201d only stopping <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2020\/11\/06\/in-leaked-call-house-democrats-admit-socialism-and-anti-cop-rhetoric-cost-them-key-2020-races\/\">when they realized<\/a> that abhorrent position <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/03\/02\/bidens-state-of-the-union-promise-to-fund-police-was-pure-lip-service\/\">could hurt them politically<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This approach to law and order is to say nothing of the left\u2019s other principles that cultivate a culture of death, such as the <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/05\/27\/a-culture-that-celebrates-dismembering-children-in-the-womb-cant-understand-why-its-afflicted-with-mass-shootings\/\">celebration of snuffing out human life in the womb<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/04\/07\/weirdos-who-want-to-sexualize-your-children-should-absolutely-be-stigmatized-as-groomers\/\">exploiting children as sex objects<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s hard to take Democrats\u2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/06\/03\/debunking-bidens-tired-gun-rhetoric-and-lies\/\">tired calls for gun control<\/a> seriously anyway, given their debunked talking points and faulty logic. But it\u2019s especially disqualifying for the left when you take into account all the lawlessness and violence they enable as hallmarks of their criminal justice platforms. If voters in far-left San Francisco can see it, it\u2019s a safe bet the rest of the country can too.
