Beth] Mizell, but was unable to overturn Edwards\u2019 veto, coming up two votes short in the House.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Edwards noted that \u201cit was obvious to me after two years it was going to become law whether or not I signed or vetoed the bill.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Fairness in Women\u2019s Sports Act <a href=\"https:\/\/www.legis.la.gov\/legis\/ViewDocument.aspx?d=1281840\">requires<\/a> \u201cthat schools designate intercollegiate and interscholastic athletic teams according to the biological sex of the team members\u201d and that schools \u201cprovide that teams designated for females are not open to participation by biological males.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mizell (R-12), who has pushed for the legislation for two years, told USA Today, \u201cWomen have worked too hard for too long to get to the competitive level we have attained to now face an unfair playing field.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Michael J. Joyner, a doctor at the Mayo Clinic, told The New York Times that there are \u201cdramatic differences in performances\u201d between males and females, which becomes clear \u201cimmediately as the testosterone surges into the boys\u201d during puberty.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are social aspects to sport, but physiology and biology underpin it,\u201d he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/even-the-new-york-times-admits-biological-men-have-a-huge-advantage-over-women-in-sports\">said<\/a>. \u201cTestosterone is the 800-pound gorilla.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2022\/05\/29\/us\/lia-thomas-women-sports.html\">report<\/a> from The New York Times noted that even though the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) requires a year of hormone-suppressing therapy to bring down testosterone levels in biological males who are trying to compete in women\u2019s sports that the biological males \u201cretain a substantial edge when racing against top biological women.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLia Thomas is the manifestation of the scientific evidence,\u201d said Dr. Ross Tucker, a sports physiologist, told the newspaper. \u201cThe reduction in testosterone did not remove her biological advantage.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The newspaper noted that some professional transgender athletes, like retired tennis player Ren\u00e9e Richards, have reversed their views on having biological males compete in women\u2019s sports.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know if I\u2019d had surgery at the age of 22, and then at 24 went on the tour, no genetic woman in the world would have been able to come close to me,\u201d she said in an interview. \u201cI\u2019ve reconsidered my opinion.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Related:<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/nfls-panthers-add-transgender-cheerleader-to-roster-cant-wait-to-show-what-this-girl-has-to-bring\">NFL\u2019s Panthers Add Transgender Cheerleader To Roster: Can\u2019t \u2018Wait To Show\u2019 \u2018What This Girl Has To Bring\u2019<\/p>\n<p><\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Louisiana Democrat Governor John Bel Edwards allowed a bill to become law without his signature on Monday that bans biological males from competing against biological females in sports.
