Elise Stefanik told The Daily Caller News Foundation that Wyoming Rep. Liz Cheney \u201cis an embarrassment\u201d after the Republican was caught trying to get campaign cash from a former Trump aide subpoenaed by her January 6 committee.<\/p>\n<p>Megan Small, a former director of campaign operations under President Donald Trump and White House press aide, posted an <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/_MeganSmall\/status\/1533870710606675969\">image<\/a> on Monday of a Cheney committee mailer that she received. Small, whose maiden name is Powers, <a href=\"https:\/\/mynbc15.com\/news\/nation-world\/house-panel-subpoenas-organizers-of-jan-6-trump-rally\">was<\/a> subpoenaed in September 2021 by the House\u2019s January 6 Select Committee.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHey @Liz_Cheney, is it standard operating procedure on the Jan. 6 committee to ask subpoenaed witnesses for campaign contributions?\u201d Small wrote, first <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/06\/06\/liz-cheney-tries-to-extract-campaign-cash-from-j6-witness-subpoenaed-by-her-committee\/\">telling<\/a> The Federalist she received the mailer on May 21 at her address in Florida.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Hey <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Liz_Cheney?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@Liz_Cheney<\/a>, is it standard operating procedure on the Jan. 6 committee to ask subpoenaed witnesses for campaign contributions? <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/DTYCjeAb1g\">pic.twitter.com\/DTYCjeAb1g<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Megan Small (Powers) (@_MeganSmall) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/_MeganSmall\/status\/1533870710606675969?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">June 6, 2022<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Reacting to Small\u2019s post, Stefanik said it further underscores how \u201cLiz Cheney is a Far-Left Pelosi puppet,\u201d referring to the House Speaker Democratic California Rep. Nancy Pelosi. Stefanik notably replaced Cheney as House GOP Conference Chair after the Wyoming congresswoman <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/05\/12\/liz-cheney-ousted-house-republican-leadership-role\/\">was<\/a> voted out last May.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNow, she has stooped so low as to ask for political donations from one of the patriots her Partisan Sham Committee is after,\u201d Stefanik said. \u201cIt is an embarrassment that she would ask for support from the very political opponents she is trying to wrongfully punish.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI look forward to helping Harriet Hageman retire her in August,\u201d the congresswoman added, mentioning the Trump-endorsed Republican primary challenger to Cheney.<\/p>\n<p>Small further explained to TheDCNF that she \u201cdid not step a single foot on the grounds of the Capitol\u201d on January 6 and has been \u201charassed and maligned in the press through leaks from the committee.\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/06\/07\/democrats-new-york-times-jan-6-hearings\/\"><strong>(RELATED: Democrats Straight Up Admit The J6 Hearings Are Political Theater)<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A pro-Trump nonprofit called Women For America First hosted the \u201cSave America Rally\u201d several miles from the Capitol on January 6, according to a <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/election-2020-donald-trump-capitol-siege-national-parks-elections-8f23b222a730a123495aad3606e4c5c4\">report<\/a> by the Associated Press, which reviewed records indicating Small was an operations manager for the event. Small and three rally organizers <a href=\"https:\/\/storage.courtlistener.com\/recap\/gov.uscourts.njd.488305\/gov.uscourts.njd.488305.1.0.pdf\">filed<\/a> a lawsuit against Verizon in December 2021 to stop the company from releasing cell phone records that Cheney\u2019s committee sought.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI received my subpoena via tweet 2 days before my wedding, had to beg the committee to let me go on my honeymoon, and spent the entire day afraid of marshals showing up to serve people,\u201d she told TheDCNF. \u201cAnd now Liz Cheney sends me a solicitation to give her money while her committee still has the ability, at her discretion, to refer to witnesses, like me, for criminal prosecution.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On Thursday, the January 6 committee will host its first hearing. The committee says it will \u201cpresent previously unseen material,\u201d acquire witness testimony, preview more hearings and summarize the \u201cmulti-step effort to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election and prevent the transfer of power,\u201d NBC News <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/congress\/jan-6-committee-reveals-details-first-public-hearing-capitol-riot-prob-rcna31682\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reported<\/a>\u00a0last week.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe goal of this committee, no matter what they say in the made-for-TV spectacle on Thursday, is to scare conservatives from working in politics,\u201d Small also said. \u201cIt won\u2019t work on me.
