Rosenberg, a bestselling author and editor-in-chief of All Israel News, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.allisrael.com\/rush-limbaugh-gave-his-life-to-jesus-christ-a-few-years-ago-and-it-gave-him-tremendous-hope-as-he-faced-his-toughest-fight\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">wrote a column<\/a> reflecting on his friendship with Limbaugh, which began when the host hired him in 1994 to work as a writer and research director for \u201cThe Limbaugh Letter,\u201d his monthly publication.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Rush gave his life to Christ a few years ago &amp; it gave him tremendous hope as he faced his toughest fight. So successful professionally, Rush also faced some dark times personally. But when I went to visit him last year, I was so encouraged by his faith. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/zwKn3Eli97\">https:\/\/t.co\/zwKn3Eli97<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Joel C. Rosenberg (@JoelCRosenberg) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JoelCRosenberg\/status\/1362779110955773955?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 19, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cI had the rare opportunity to see Rush\u2019s extraordinary, God-given talent firsthand,\u201d Rosenberg wrote, going on to recount how he worked closely with Limbaugh and members of his inner circle, which he described as an invaluable education he could not have received anywhere else.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut I will be honest \u2013 I worried about Rush over the years,\u201d Rosenberg continued, mentioning Limbaugh\u2019s marital difficulties, drug addiction, hearing loss, and the fallout from various comments he made that drew backlash.&nbsp;\u201cBut those things were symptoms. At his core, he was struggling with something deeper.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>From his vantage point, which he conceded was from a relative distance, Rosenberg said of Limbaugh, \u201cI believed he was struggling spiritually.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mentioning how Rush\u2019s brother, David Limbaugh, is an outspoken evangelical Christian, Rosenberg believed that Rush, by comparison, was long \u201cresisting a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rosenberg remembered discussing matters of faith with him occasionally, but Rosenberg admitted that he was intimidated by a larger-than-life figure such as Limbaugh, despite his kindness. As an example of Limbaugh\u2019s generosity, he referenced how the talk show host interviewed him and often extolled his books on-air, a gesture that \u201csimply was not done in his world.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Despite his personal respect for Limbaugh as a man at the top of his industry, Rosenberg said when he thought of him, he was often bothered by the words of Jesus: \u201cWhat profits a man to gain the whole world, but to lose his soul?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s what I feared for Rush,\u201d Rosenberg wrote. \u201cMaybe that seems presumptuous. Maybe it was. But it came out of my love for him. No other reason.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo, I would talk with him about the Lord when I could. We would email about lots of things, and occasionally I\u2019d share a Bible verse with him,\u201d he continued. \u201cBut mostly I prayed for him \u2013 for the past 28 years, I asked the Lord to bless him and draw Rush into the kingdom of heaven. And I asked the Lord to bring other strong believers into his life that would be far more credible in Rush\u2019s life than little old me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was not the only one. I met Evangelicals all over America who, when they learned that I once worked for him, would tell me, \u2018I love Rush and I\u2019m praying for him every day.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When Limbaugh was diagnosed with cancer last year, Rosenberg asked to meet with him, to which he agreed. When he arrived at Limbaugh\u2019s hotel in Palm Beach, Florida, Limbaugh was not well enough to meet with him, and Rosenberg had to hurry back to his family in Israel when the government was shutting down travel amid the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI never got to see Rush again in person,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Rosenberg later learned, however, that Limbaugh had made a profound conversion to Christianity in 2019.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was because he had truly wrestled through the claims of Jesus for himself, and come to the conclusion that Jesus really did die on the cross, rise again, and was the Messiah, the Savior and the King of the universe,\u201d said Rosenberg. \u201cAnd having placed his faith in Christ\u2019s love and forgiveness, he now had a certain, definitive hope that he was going to heaven when he died, and peace for every day before that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rosenberg noted how extraordinary it was for Limbaugh to have spoken about his faith publicly in the months before his death. \u201cFor such a public person, Rush was also intensely private.&nbsp;But he began talking about his faith in Christ, and I knew beyond the shadow of a doubt it was real.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>WATCH:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Really quite remarkable to hear <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/rushlimbaugh?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@rushlimbaugh<\/a> discussing his cancer setback and yet pointing out all of his blessings, &#8220;it&#8217;s just a series of blessings.&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/CZg4V5YmAE\">pic.twitter.com\/CZg4V5YmAE<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Heather Champion (@winningatmylife) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/winningatmylife\/status\/1318258213616259078?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">October 19, 2020<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Last October, Limbaugh told his audience about the comfort he had received from his Christian faith, saying in part:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><em>I try to remain committed to the idea what\u2019s supposed to happen will happen when it\u2019s meant to. I mentioned at the outset of this \u2014 the first day I told you \u2014 that I have personal relationship with Jesus Christ.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>It is of immense value, strength, confidence, and that\u2019s why I\u2019m able to remain fully committed to the idea that what is supposed to happen will happen when it\u2019s meant to.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>There\u2019s some comfort in knowing that some things are not in our hands. There\u2019s a lot of fear associated with that, too, but there is some comfort. It\u2019s helpful\u2026 God, is it helpful.
