I\u2019m shocked by the inhumanity. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/Lzcq9kPlAV\">pic.twitter.com\/Lzcq9kPlAV<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Hen Mazzig (@HenMazzig) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/HenMazzig\/status\/1534167593958924289?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">June 7, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Prisoners at Luki\u0161k\u0117s Prison in Vilnius, hundreds of them Jews in World War II, were taken from the prison and murdered.<\/p>\n<p>In September 194o, the Soviet secret police arrested Begin; he was imprisoned in Luki\u0161k\u0117s Prison for eight months.<\/p>\n<p>In June 1941, the NKVD shot prisoners at Luki\u0161k\u0117s Prison.\u00a0Later, once they occupied Vilnius, the Nazis started persecuting Jews; in July 1941, German officials took 60 Jews from the prison and murdered them on Titnago Street near the Ponary forest.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201c<\/strong>In 1941, the first people to be murdered in the Ponary massacre were 348 Jews and others who had been imprisoned at Luki\u0161k\u0117s,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.timesofisrael.com\/stranger-things-filmed-in-lithuanian-prison-where-nazis-jailed-jews\/\">The Times of Israel<\/a> noted. \u201cNearly 100,000 people, mostly Jewish, would be murdered at the Ponary site near Vilnius, formerly known as Vilna, in the subsequent months.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Luki\u0161k\u0117s prison only ceased to operate as a correctional facility in 2019,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/best-of-netflix.com\/stranger-things-former-nazi-prison-airbnb\/\">Best of Netflix<\/a> reported. \u201cThe visitors that the building receives now are not the loved ones of inmates but holidaymakers with a penchant for Nazi history or indeed,\u00a0<em>Stranger Things<\/em>. The prison has now been redecorated for the\u00a0<em>Stranger Things\u00a0<\/em>set and also transformed into an Airbnb for dark tourism. The remnant atmosphere of human torture and suffering has been glazed over with 1980s-style decor to bring the\u00a0<em>Stranger Things<\/em>\u00a0aesthetic.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you\u2019re worried that the Airbnb is as austere as the prison the Luki\u0161k\u0117s represents in\u00a0<em>Stranger Things<\/em>, fear not,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.timeout.com\/news\/you-can-stay-in-the-prison-where-they-filmed-the-new-season-of-stranger-things-052622\">Timeout<\/a> gushed. \u201cThe cell you\u2019ll be staying in is kitted out with lots of home comforts \u2013 including plenty of\u00a0<em>ST<\/em>-themed d\u00e9cor like\u00a01980s-style furniture and\u00a0the first season\u2019s famed coloured fairy lights. Considering it is, y\u2019know, a prison cell, the place is pretty damn swanky.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s been six months since the Battle of Starcourt, which brought terror and destruction to Hawkins,\u201d a synopsis of Stranger Things\u2019 fourth season stated. \u201cStruggling with the aftermath, our group of friends are separated for the first time \u2013 and navigating the complexities of high school hasn\u2019t made things any easier.
