Bryan Slaton announced Monday he plans to file legislation to ban drag shows for minors in Texas.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.house.texas.gov\/members\/member-page\/?district=2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Slaton<\/a>, who represents Hunt, Hopkins and Van Zandt counties, vowed to file legislation in the next Texas legislative session to prohibit drag performances in front of minors after a <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/06\/04\/dallas-drag-children-protest\/\">\u201cfamily-friendly drag show\u201d<\/a> in a Dallas nightclub went viral, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BryanforHD2\/status\/1533820586048241669?s=20&#038;t=6cIPIjvCtFwKsEzweuF8kQ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">according<\/a> to a statement.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Drag shows are no place for a child.<\/p>\n<p>I would never take my children to a drag show and I know Speaker Dade Phelan and my Republican colleagues wouldn\u2019t either.<\/p>\n<p>I will be filing legislation to address this issue in the new <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/txlege?src=hash&#038;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#txlege<\/a> . <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/R7NkX7ADBR\">pic.twitter.com\/R7NkX7ADBR<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Bryan Slaton (@BryanforHD2) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BryanforHD2\/status\/1533820586048241669?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">June 6, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The state representative said he planned to file the bill after several news stories and videos showed Texas children witnessed \u201cinappropriate sexual content\u201d at the Mr. Misster gay club event, \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.eventbrite.com\/e\/drag-the-kids-to-pride-a-family-friendly-drag-show-tickets-333735681407\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Drag The Kids To Pride<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe events of this past weekend were horrifying and show a disturbing trend in which perverted adults are obsessed with sexualizing young children,\u201d Slaton said. \u201cI would never take my children to a drag show and I know Speaker Dade Phelan and the rest of my Republican colleagues wouldn\u2019t either.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cProtecting our own children isn\u2019t enough, and our responsibility as lawmakers extends to the sexualization that is happening across Texas,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/06\/05\/drag-queens-dallas-interview\/\">Images and videos<\/a> of the event shared on Twitter showed several children holding out cash, walking the \u201crunway,\u201d and posing with drag queens as a neon sign that said \u201cIt\u2019s Not Gonna Lick Itself!\u201d flashed on the wall behind. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/06\/02\/jasper-indiana-dubois-drag-show-all-ages-children\/\">(RELATED: Town Cancels Drag Show For Kids, Citing Safety Concerns)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">A drag queen drops it low for children and takes their money\u2014<\/p>\n<p>This is not even the worst footage to come out of the event believe it or not. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/uIodp84Naf\">pic.twitter.com\/uIodp84Naf<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Tayler Hansen \ud83c\uddfa\ud83c\uddf8 (@TaylerUSA) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TaylerUSA\/status\/1533188491210809345?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">June 4, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">The drag event for children at a gay bar in Dallas, Texas was called \u201cDrag the Kids to Pride.\u201d It was held at the Mr. Misster gay bar &#038; club.
