In his first year in office, burglaries spiked by 49%, and 84% of charged perpetrators were back on the streets within two days,\u201d The San Franciscans for Public Safety <a href=\"https:\/\/www.safersfwithoutboudin.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">stated<\/a>.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Other efforts include funding from Republicans, doctors, lawyers, and real estate developers and associations, with 80% of donors being from San Francisco, reported the Washington Post. Groups pushing to recall Boudin have raised over $7 million, <a href=\"https:\/\/sfethics.org\/ethics\/2021\/11\/campaign-finance-dashboards-june-7-2022.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">according<\/a> to San Francisco Campaign Finance data.<\/p>\n<p>Boudin, who ran as a \u201cprogressive prosecutor,\u201d is being blamed by his critics for the city\u2019s rise in crime after his office has repeatedly refused to prosecute criminals aggressively and, in some cases, not at all, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/chesa-boudin-recall-election-san-francisco-district-attorney\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reported<\/a> CBS.<\/p>\n<p>A May poll from Public Policy Polling suggests voters agree with Boudin\u2019s critics. The poll found that 48% of San Francisco likely voters will vote \u201cyes\u201d to recall Boudin on Tuesday, with 38% planning to vote \u201cno,\u201d and 14% have yet to decide, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sfgate.com\/politics\/article\/Chesa-Boudin-recall-closer-poll-shows-17177181.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reported<\/a> the SF Gate.\u00a0The poll surveyed 697 likely voters with a margin of error of +\/- 4.3%.<\/p>\n<p>A spokesman for the anti-recall campaign supporting Boudin, Jim Ross, said if the polling is accurate, Boudin can capitalize on the 14% of undecided voters who don\u2019t want a massive shake-up in San Francisco.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cClearly, this is a much closer race than has been reported and will come down to turnout and how the late undecided voters break,\u201d Ross told SF Gate.<\/p>\n<p>San Francisco State University associate professor of political science Jason McDaniel that voters\u2019 priorities in San Francisco have shifted since Boudin was elected, and now they want safety over progressive policy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe themes that were salient to voters when Boudin was elected \u2013 criminal justice reform, over-incarceration, police conduct \u2013 are not the same issues salient with voters now,\u201d McDaniel told the Washington Post. \u201cWhat\u2019s most salient now is this feeling that things are just not going well, whether it\u2019s with covid, the economy, homelessness, or other issues. That\u2019s a shift.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A former prosecutor in Boudin\u2019s office, Brooke Jenkins, is one of the leaders working to recall Boudin. She said Boudin refuses to hold himself accountable for how his policies affect the safety of San Francisco residents.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is about San Franciscans wanting a district attorney who\u2019s actually dedicated to prioritizing public safety,\u201d Jenkins told the Washington Post. \u201cPeople\u2019s issues with Chesa is that he has been tone-deaf to their pleas for accountability.
