Lopez Obrador previously threatened to boycott the event if the Biden administration excluded Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaragua, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/americas\/us-excludes-cuba-venezuela-nicaragua-americas-summit-sources-2022-06-06\/\">according<\/a> to Reuters. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/11\/30\/exclusive-my-night-at-the-border-with-operation-lone-star-in-texas\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: EXCLUSIVE: My Night At The Border With \u2018Operation Lone Star\u2019 In Texas)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Shortly after the administration confirmed the three governments would not be on the invite list, Lopez Obrador announced his plans to officially skip the event. REUTERS\/Daniel Becerril\/File Photo<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cThere cannot be a summit if all countries are not invited,\u201d he said, according to the AP. \u201cOr there can be one, but that is to continue with all politics of interventionism.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Lopez Obrador plans to send his foreign minister instead, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/white-house\/summit-americas-snubs-threaten-overshadow-biden-hosted-gathering-rcna32106\">NBC News<\/a> reported. Still, the Mexican president\u2019s decision is a blow to Biden\u2019s goals behind hosting the summit.<\/p>\n<p>The Mexican president isn\u2019t the only one who threatened a boycott. Argentina and Honduras also suggested they\u2019d support Lopez Obrador\u2019s move, the AP reported.
