And if we can\u2019t ban assault weapons, then we should raise the age to purchase them from 18 to 21,\u201d the president <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2022\/06\/02\/us\/politics\/biden-speech-transcript-gun-control.html\">said<\/a>. \u201cStrengthen the background checks, enact safe storage laws and \u2018red flag\u2019 laws. Repeal the immunity that protects gun manufacturers from liability. Address the mental health crisis deepening the trauma of gun violence, and as a consequence of that violence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">\u201cThese are rational, common-sense measures,\u201d he claimed. \u201cHere\u2019s what it all means. It all means this: We should reinstate the assault weapons ban on high capacity magazines that we passed in 1994 with bipartisan support in Congress and the support of law enforcement.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Following the Uvalde shooting, Daily Wire emeritus and bestselling author Ben Shapiro slammed cynical efforts from the Left to curb gun rights.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u2018Common sense gun reform\u2019 is in reality what the Left wrongly believes \u2018thoughts and prayers\u2019 is for the Right: an empty phrase denoting \u2018I care\u2019 but without any actual problem-solving content,\u201d Shapiro posted via social media.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNot one of the \u2018common sense gun reform\u2019 proposals the Left proposes would stop shootings like Uvalde. They know this. So instead, they make absurd claims suggesting that the mere fact of action of any type will magically reduce shootings (see, e.g., Sen.
