Heard was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/amber-heard-plans-to-appeal-johnny-depp-defamation-case-verdict-spox-says\">awarded<\/a> $2 million in damages from statements that were made by Depp attorney Adam Waldman.<\/p>\n<p>The New York Post reported that sources told the publication that Heard was \u201cbroke\u201d and that she is having to rely on her homeowner\u2019s insurance to pay her attorney\u2019s fees.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe high-profile court battle with her ex-husband has left the 36-year-old actress hurting for cash, according to sources, including one who also placed the blame on Heard\u2019s past lavish spending, on travel, clothes, gifts and wine,\u201d the report <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/06\/02\/amber-heard-is-broke-due-to-legal-fees-lavish-spending\/\">said<\/a>. \u201cThe bill for Heard\u2019s attorney has mostly been footed by The Travelers Companies under terms of the actress\u2019s insurance policy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The report said estimates suggest that Heard\u2019s net worth could be as low as $1.5 million.<\/p>\n<p>During an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/amber-heards-lawyer-johnny-depp-absolutely-not-getting-the-10-35-million-he-is-owed-from-heard\">interview<\/a> on NBC\u2019s \u201cToday\u201d with host Savannah Guthrie, Heard attorney Elaine Bredehoft was asked by Guthrie if Heard was able to pay the $10.35 million.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOh no, absolutely not,\u201d Bredehoft responded.<\/p>\n<p>Bredehoft said that Heard would \u201cabsolutely\u201d file an appeal because she believes the actress \u201chas some excellent grounds for it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bredehoft claimed that Depp had unfair advantages over Heard, ranging from his \u201cwealth, power, and fame\u201d to the amount of support that he had on social media and at the courthouse.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think some of it had to do with the amount of social media that was involved, the cameras in the courtroom,\u201d Bredehoft said. \u201cThe fact that they had 100 Depp fans in there every day, it was like coliseum as opposed to a dignified courtroom. I think all of those things had a negative influence here that caused this to be much more challenging and much more difficult.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut reality is social media is everywhere, it was all over the TVs the radios, the internet, everywhere,\u201d she said. \u201cIt was really hard to block that out.
