I\u2019d rather listen to Steely Dan.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The rocker explained later to the <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/queen-platinum-jubilee-sex-pistols-ede0797caacfc567f2af7cd8bf6cb4d7\">Associated Press<\/a> that his tastes have changed over the years since he\u2019s gotten older.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t particularly listen to punk rock anymore. My musical tastes have changed a lot over the years, you know, and I\u2019m 66 years old,\u201d Jones said. \u201cI\u2019m not a kid anymore. I think it would be a bit silly if I was still flying that flag. I like Steely Dan. Is that bad?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He also recently spoke with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-features\/sex-pistols-steve-jones-looks-back-it-just-seemed-doomed-190912\/\">Rolling Stone magazine<\/a> about his new book, \u201cLonely Boy: Tales from a Sex Pistol,\u201d and the guitarist said that the highlight of his career with the band was recording their only studio album \u201cNever Mind the Bollocks, Here\u2019s the Sex Pistols,\u201d released in 1977. The band split up a year later.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s an album that was so bizarre for these 19, 20-year-olds to do in the structure of the songs,\u201d Jones explained. \u201cIt\u2019s just one of them classic albums, if you will. I\u2019m not pumping myself up. But it\u2019s a bizarre record.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe didn\u2019t go for like, \u2018We need to write a hit song for the record company,\u2019\u201d he added. \u201cThere was none of that. But there\u2019s a lot of catchy bits in some of the songs. I don\u2019t know. It\u2019s just a real weird album. When I do listen to it, I love it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The group\u2019s history includes its anti-authoritarian anthem \u201cGod Save the Queen,\u201d which was released during the 1977 Silver Jubilee that marked Queen Elizabeth II\u2019s 25 years on the throne.<\/p>\n<p>However, the group definitely appears to be singing a new tune now, with Jones sharing that he\u2019s \u201cnot against\u201d the four-day jubilee extravaganza. The queen is celebrating this week her Platinum Jubilee, marking 70 years on the throne.
