Ayanna Pressley, who has repeatedly pushed to defund the police, spent thousands of taxpayers\u2019 dollars on private security, according to newly released Statement of Disbursements of the House records reviewed by the Daily Caller.<\/p>\n<p>The Daily Caller first\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/04\/19\/squad-members-defund-police-spent-thousands-private-security-protect-themselves-alexandria-ocasio-cortez-ilhan-omar-ayanna-pressley-cori-bush\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reported<\/a> in April 2021 that Pressley and members of the far-left group in Congress called \u201cthe Squad\u201d spent thousands of campaign funds on private security. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/04\/19\/squad-members-defund-police-spent-thousands-private-security-protect-themselves-alexandria-ocasio-cortez-ilhan-omar-ayanna-pressley-cori-bush\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: \u2018The Squad\u2019 Pushes To \u2018Defund The Police\u2019 While Spending Thousands On Private Security To Protect Themselves)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Pressley spent $14,000 of her Member Representational Allowance (MRA) on \u201csecurity service\u201d between January and March 2022, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.house.gov\/sites\/default\/files\/2022-05\/2022q1_singlevolume.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the new Statement of Disbursements of the House records<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Member\u2019s Representational Allowance (MRA) is intended for individual member offices\u2019 expenditures and receipts during a single legislative year. The MRA is funded through fiscal year appropriations and authorized annually by the Committee on House Administration (CHA). (Photo by Drew Angerer\/Getty Images)<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>In 2021, <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/03\/07\/ayanna-pressley-spent-thousands-dollars-taxpayer-money-private-security-house-records-defund-police-squad\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Pressley spent<\/a> $63,000 of her MRA on \u201csecurity service\u201d\u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.house.gov\/sites\/default\/files\/2022-02\/2021q4_singlevolume_signed.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">spending<\/a> $28,000 between Oct. 1, 2021 and Dec. 31, 2021, and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.house.gov\/sites\/default\/files\/uploads\/documents\/SODs\/2021q3\/2021q3_singlevolume.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">$35,000<\/a> between May 2021 and August 2021. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/03\/07\/ayanna-pressley-spent-thousands-dollars-taxpayer-money-private-security-house-records-defund-police-squad\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Rep. Ayanna Pressley Spent Thousands Of Taxpayers Dollars On Private Security, House Records Show)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The payments showed the money was directed to Alisa Tatarian, who is a Financial Administrator at the U.S. House of Representatives. It is not clear how that money was finally spent. The Daily Caller contacted Tatarian as well as Pressley\u2019s office several times about the money that was spent on \u201csecurity service,\u201d to which they did not respond.<\/p>\n<p>A GOP source told the Daily Caller that a financial administrator handles disbursements and reimbursements for members of Congress, therefore it is unlikely that Pressley actually paid Tatarian for security services, but rather listed her name due to the disbursement process.\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/07\/16\/cori-bush-wants-defund-police-spent-70000-private-security\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Rep. Cori Bush, Who Wants To Defund The Police, Spent Just Under $70,000 On Private Security)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In a June 2020\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/time.com\/5857571\/ayanna-pressley-defund-police-time100-talks\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">interview<\/a> with TIME, Pressley said she supports efforts to defund police departments, saying it is \u201cabout the investment in our communities which have historically been divested from.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"ob-read-more-selector\">\n<p>During President Joe Biden\u2019s State of the Union address, he mentioned America should be funding police departments not defunding them, breaking with many left-wing Democrats in Congress like Pressley.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The Daily Caller contacted Pressley\u2019s office about the hiring of private security to which they did not immediately respond.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Democratic Massachusetts Rep.
