It is not genuine footage from the conflict in Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p><span><strong>Fact Check:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ohchr.org\/en\/news\/2022\/05\/ukraine-civilian-casualty-update-31-may-2022\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">estimates<\/a> that more than 9,000 civilians have been killed or wounded in the course of Russia\u2019s invasion of Ukraine. Some 280 potential war crimes have been documented throughout the war, according to PBS\u2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbs.org\/wgbh\/frontline\/interactive\/ap-russia-war-crimes-ukraine\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">War Crimes Watch Ukraine<\/a> website.<\/p>\n<p>The Facebook video, viewed more than 900,000 times, allegedly shows Russian Ka-52 attack helicopters firing rockets at a Ukrainian village as soldiers on the ground respond by firing at the helicopters. \u201c3 Russian Ka-52 Attacking Helicopter firing Missiles at Ukraine village,\u201d the post\u2019s caption states. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2022\/05\/27\/fact-check-russian-helicopters-shot-down\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Does This Video Show Russian Helicopters Being Struck By Anti-Air Missiles?)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The footage is not genuine. A reverse image search found the footage stems from\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/arma3.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ARMA 3<\/a>, a military-style video game simulator created by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bohemia.net\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Bohemia Interactive<\/a>. The video first appeared on\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=XrnPR8ceJiA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">YouTube<\/a> March 23 where it was shared by user <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/c\/SeveralSim\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Several<\/a> with the title, \u201c3 Ka-52 Attack Helicopter firing Missiles at Military Convoy \u2013 Military Simulation \u2013 ARMA 3.\u201d<\/p>\n[embedded content]\n<p>The Facebook video omits the Disclaimers displayed at the beginning of the YouTube video and at the end of the video\u2019s title that clearly identify the footage as being from ARMA 3. The YouTube video also states in its description that the video is a military simulation.<\/p>\n<div id=\"ob-read-more-selector\">\n<p>Footage from ARMA 3 has repeatedly been shared online with claims that it shows real combat footage. Check Your Fact recently <a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2022\/05\/30\/fact-check-russia-desert-base-drone-strike\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">debunked<\/a> a video that social media users claimed showed a Ukrainian drone destroying a Russian desert base but actually showed footage from the video game.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A video\u00a0shared on Facebook allegedly shows Russian helicopters firing missiles on a Ukrainian village.Verdict: False The video footage is from a military-style video game.
