Gavin Newsom, examines \u201cthe compounding harms that the United States and Californian governments have inflicted upon African Americans,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/oag.ca.gov\/news\/press-releases\/california-reparations-task-force-releases-interim-report-detailing-harms\">according<\/a> to a press release. The word \u201cequity,\u201d which means equality of outcome and is frequently invoked by proponents of Critical Race Theory (CRT), appears 70 times.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo thoroughly have the effects of slavery infected every aspect of American society over the last 400 years, that it is nearly impossible to identify every \u2018badge and incident of slavery,\u2019 to include every piece of evidence, or describe every harm done to African Americans,\u201d the report states, further explaining that it analyzes \u201c12 specific areas of systemic discrimination.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Kendi\u2019s 2020 book \u201cStamped: Racism, Antiracism, and You\u201d is cited four times in the report. In it, the author and professor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Stamped-Antiracism-National-Award-winning-Beginning\/dp\/0316453692?asin=0316453692&#038;revisionId=&#038;format=4&#038;depth=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">says<\/a> \u201cthe only thing extraordinary about white people is that they think something is extraordinary about white people.\u201d<strong>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/05\/20\/ibram-kendi-daughter-blonde-blue-eyed-doll\/\">(RELATED:\u00a0The Ruling Class\u2019s Favorite Racist Says He Was Disturbed His Daughter Liked A White Doll)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Coates\u2019 2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theatlantic.com\/magazine\/archive\/2014\/06\/the-case-for-reparations\/361631\/\">article<\/a> in The Atlantic titled \u201cThe Case for Reparations,\u201d which claims the effects of slavery still linger today, is mentioned in the report seven times.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAmerica was built on the preferential treatment of white people \u2014 395 years of it,\u201d he writes. \u201cVaguely endorsing a cuddly, feel-good diversity does very little to redress this.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">.<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/PressSec?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@PressSec<\/a>: \u201cThere is this report out of California on reparations. I was wondering if the president has seen it and if he would use it to guide any sort of an executive action.\u201d<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/PressSec?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@PressSec<\/a>: \u201cHis stance on reparations [\u2026] hasn\u2019t changed.\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/OjCgtadMe8\">pic.twitter.com\/OjCgtadMe8<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 The Hill (@thehill) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/thehill\/status\/1532391843450630144?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">June 2, 2022<\/a> <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Bell, widely recognized as one of the academics who founded CRT, is referenced in a section called \u201cSeparate and Unequal Education.\u201d His 2005 <a href=\"https:\/\/books.google.com\/books\/about\/Silent_Covenants.html?id=mN347xr86f0C&#038;source=kp_book_description\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">book<\/a> \u201cSilent Covenants\u201d is cited 14 times.<\/p>\n<p>Peter Wood, president of the National Association of Scholars, told TheDCNF that it only makes sense the report cites prominent writers who push the tenets of CRT. He said the influence of 1619 Project writer Nikole Hannah-Jones seems apparent.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEssentially, the interim report is a practical application of Critical Race Theory to the history of California, inspired by our most prominent grievance impresarios, Nikole Hannah-Jones and Ibram Kendi,\u201d said Wood. \u201cThe story is that America\u2019s wealth, in general, is derived primarily from slavery, and California, in particular, owes a debt to the descendants of those enslaved.\u00a0 The authors do not trouble themselves with explaining the logic of this.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>California\u2019s report is <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/06\/02\/california-reparations-report-tree-planting-black-neighborhoods-shade-equity\/\">billed<\/a> as the first of its kind by a state government. It comes after the governor signed legislation in 2020 establishing a nine-member task force to \u201cinform Californians about slavery and explore ways the state might provide reparations.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Task force members include Democratic state Sen. Steven Bradford and Reggie Jones-Sawyer, an assemblyman who previously was secretary for the state\u2019s Democratic Party.<\/p>\n<p>White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre was asked Thursday whether President Joe Biden saw the reparations report and \u201cwould use it to guide any sort of executive action.\u201d Biden <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/biden-study-reparations-congress-e3c045ece4d0e0eae393a18a09a4a37e\">said<\/a> prior that he supported reparations for black Americans being studied while left-wing groups demanded in May he <a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/Politics\/advocates-lawmaker-call-biden-sign-executive-order-study\/story?id=84531491\">sign<\/a> an executive order on the topic.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have not seen the California report but his personal policy stance has not changed on reparations,\u201d said Jean-Pierre.<\/p>\n<p>California\u2019s reparations task force did not respond to TheDCNF\u2019s request for comment.
