Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York.<\/p>\n<div id=\"in-article-trending\" class=\"in-article-more inner-content\">\n<p>Trending:<\/p>\n<div class=\"in-article-more-right\">\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/wild-video-reporting-violent-chicago-crime-reporter-cameraman-become-victims\/\" data-type=\"Internal link\" data-type-location=\"in-content-trending\">Wild Video: While Reporting on Violent Chicago Crime, Reporter, Cameraman Become Victims Themselves<\/a>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>A fifth juror revealed that her daughter and Sussmann\u2019s daughter were on the same sports team. The Durham team objected to this juror, but the presiding judge \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/federal-judge-orders-fusion-gps-hand-emails-involving-clinton-campaign-lawyer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Christopher Cooper<\/a> of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia \u2014 overruled it.<\/p>\n<p>Cooper, a 2013 appointee of then-President Barack Obama who had <a href=\"https:\/\/legaltimes.typepad.com\/blt\/2013\/08\/covingtons-casey-cooper-chosen-for-dc-district-court.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">served<\/a> on the Democrat\u2019s transition team in 2008, determined the jurors would be able to render impartial decisions in the case.<\/p>\n<p>In a town where over 90 percent of voters cast their ballot for Clinton, Turley said, it\u2019s difficult to find potential jurors who didn\u2019t support her. (According to data from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/2016-election\/results\/map\/president\/district-of-columbia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Politico,<\/a> Clinton received 92.8 percent of the 2016 vote in the District of Columbia vs. 4.1 percent for Republican Donald Trump.)<\/p>\n<p>But Turley explained there is a big difference between supporting a candidate and donating to a political campaign. \u201cIt\u2019s a much more active role,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\" class=\"one-half\">\n<p>Do you believe that justice was served in the Sussmann case?<\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-results\">\n<p>\nYes: 1% (9 Votes)\n<\/p>\n<p>\nNo: 99% (641 Votes)\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>He joked that short of having <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/chelsea-clinton-racks-9-million-worth-compensation-serving-corporate-board\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Chelsea Clinton<\/a> on the jury, the situation couldn\u2019t be much worse for the Durham team.<\/p>\n<p>Turley said that \u201cthe evidence against Sussmann is overwhelming.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He referenced Sussmann\u2019s text to Baker on Sept. 18, 2016, the evening before their meeting. Sussmann <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/opinion\/white-house\/3260328-text-message-makes-case-materially-worse-for-clinton-lawyer-michael-sussmann\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">wrote,<\/a>\u00a0\u201cJim \u2014 it\u2019s Michael Sussmann. I have something time-sensitive (and sensitive) I need to discuss. Do you have availability for a short meeting tomorrow? I\u2019m coming on my own \u2014 not on behalf of a client or company \u2014 want to help the Bureau. Thanks.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Chaffetz pointed out the huge differences in the treatment of the prosecutors between the case of retired Gen. Michael Flynn and the Sussmann case and asked Turley to comment. Like Sussman, Flynn, who served as national security advisor in the Trump administration, was accused of lying to the FBI.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/flynn-judge-faces-ethics-complaints-head-scratching-move\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">U.S. District Judge Emmet Sullivan<\/a> removed roadblocks for prosecutors in the Flynn case, while obstacles were added for prosecutors in the Sussmann case, Turley explained.<\/p>\n<div id=\"in-article-related\" class=\"in-article-more inner-content\">\n<p>Related:<\/p>\n<div class=\"in-article-more-right\">\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/bill-barr-opens-seditious-russia-collusion-hoax\/\" data-type=\"Internal link\" data-type-location=\"in-content-related\">Bill Barr Opens Up About &#8216;Seditious&#8217; Russia Collusion Hoax<\/a>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Cooper, he said, \u201chas narrowed the scope of evidence and of questioning. He\u2019s made a number of rulings that the prosecutors have very much objected to. And it\u2019s sort of like an obstacle course for John Durham in that sense.\u201d<\/p>\n[embedded content]\n<p>The conflicts don\u2019t stop there. According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/us\/judge-sussman-case-recusal-wife-lisa-page-lucas\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fox News<\/a>, Cooper\u2019s wife represented former <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/lisa-pages-testimony-finally-released-confirms-exactly-said\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">FBI lawyer Lisa Page<\/a>, the anti-Trump paramour of former FBI agent Peter Strzok. And Cooper himself described Sussmann as a \u201cprofessional acquaintance\u201d with whom he had worked at the Department of Justice during the 1990s.<\/p>\n<p>Last but certainly not least, Attorney General Merrick Garland officiated at Cooper\u2019s May 1999 wedding. The wedding announcement can be viewed in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/1999\/05\/02\/style\/weddings-amy-jeffress-casey-cooper.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The New York Times<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Weird, huh?<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/news\/2022\/may\/31\/michael-sussmann-clinton-campaign-lawyer-found-not\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">T<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/news\/2022\/may\/31\/michael-sussmann-clinton-campaign-lawyer-found-not\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">he Wa<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/news\/2022\/may\/31\/michael-sussmann-clinton-campaign-lawyer-found-not\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">shington Times<\/a> reported that the jury forewoman, who did not reveal her name, spoke to reporters following the verdict. She said,\u00a0\u201cI don\u2019t think it [the Sussmann case] should have been prosecuted. There are bigger things that affect the nation than a possible lie to the FBI.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Would she say the same about the Flynn case or the case of George Papadopoulos, a Trump campaign advisor who served time in prison for lying to the FBI?<\/p>\n<p>Brett Tolman, a former U.S. attorney for the District of Utah, appeared on Fox News\u2019 \u201cJesse Watters Primetime\u201d on Tuesday night and said the D.C. District Court is the only federal jurisdiction where this would have happened.<\/p>\n<p>Most district courts, according to Tolman, have a conviction rate of approximately 95 percent.<\/p>\n[embedded content]\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/scaros-media-reaches-new-low-suggests-trump-supported-hanging-mike-pence\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Trump<\/a> was incensed by the verdict. He posted a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediaite.com\/news\/trump-rages-about-clinton-lawyer-sussmann-not-guilty-verdict-our-country-is-going-to-hell-enjoy-your-day\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">statement<\/a> on Truth Social that read, \u201cOur Legal System is CORRUPT, our Judges (and Justices!) are highly partisan, compromised or just plain scared, our Borders are OPEN, our Elections are Rigged, Inflation is RAMPANT, gas prices and food costs are \u2018through the roof,\u2019 our Military \u2018Leadership\u2019 is Woke, our Country is going to HELL, and Michael Sussmann is not guilty.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>His eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., also reacted to the news, as did other Republicans.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">I\u2019m shocked the DC Clinton donor jury let Clinton\u2019s lawyer off\u2026 HAHAHA just kidding, absolutely no one is shocked. It was rigged from the get-go.<\/p>\n<p>The conflicts of interest among the players in this spectacle are vast. What did anyone expect would happen when the trial of one of the swamp\u2019s entrenched vipers was held in the belly of that very swamp where the corruption runs so deep?<\/p>\n<p>This was a serious setback for the Durham team.
