Gretchen Whitmer but whose petition sheets were found to have <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/05\/24\/michigan-state-elections-bureau-might-5-gop-candidates-invalid-signatures\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">thousands of fraudulent or invalid signatures<\/a>. The candidates were deemed ineligible to appear on the primary ballot after the Board of State Canvassers deadlocked on May 26, the AP <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/2022-midterm-elections-michigan-detroit-government-and-politics-48b90b18f1c13db502ac40ec4c146b57\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Johnson\u2019s legal challenge asked the appeals court to overrule the canvassers and put him back on the ballot, the AP reported. More legal challenges, however, are expected. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/04\/08\/two-michigan-men-acquitted-plot-kidnap-governor\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Two Michigan Men Acquitted In Plot To Kidnap The Governor)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The bureau\u2019s report on the signatures said there was currently no indication any of the candidates or campaigns were aware of the fraud.
