The White House noted ahead of time that the president and Powell would discuss \u201cthe state of the American and global economy\u201d as well as \u201caddressing inflation,\u201d which was dubbed <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/04\/12\/inflation-labor-department-joe-biden-white-house-vladimir-putin\/\">Biden\u2019s<\/a> \u201ctop economic priority,\u201d NBC News <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/white-house\/biden-meet-federal-reserve-chair-powell-inflation-woes-rcna31205\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cMy plan to address inflation starts with the simple proposition: Respect the Fed, respect the Fed\u2019s independence, which I have done and will continue to do,\u201d Biden told reporters at the top of the meeting Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>High <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/05\/11\/inflation-consumer-price-index-labor-department-joe-biden\/\">inflation<\/a> \u2013 which officials\u00a0consistently\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/04\/12\/flashback-joe-biden-administration-inflation-temporary\/\">downplayed<\/a>\u00a0as \u201ctemporary\u201d throughout parts of 2021 \u2013 continues to plague the Biden administration and America as a whole. A White House official said the administration plans to make \u201ca concerted effort to communicate on our accomplishments to date on the economy\u201d as well as \u201con the path forward.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to the White House official, \u201cthe key message\u201d from the administration throughout the month will be on discussing the economy and \u201chow we can put more money in the pockets of working families.\u201d <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/05\/02\/joe-biden-lead-pollster-warned-inflation-immigration-issues\/\">(RELATED:\u00a0REPORT: Lead Pollster Kept Warning Biden That Inflation And Immigration Would Cost Him Deeply)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Biden also wrote an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/my-plan-for-fighting-inflation-joe-biden-gas-prices-economy-unemployment-jobs-covid-11653940654?mod=opinion_major_pos5\">op-ed<\/a> about the economy in The Wall Street Journal on Monday. In the piece, he promised to make \u201ctackling inflation\u201d his \u201ctop economic priority.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI welcome debate on my plan to tackle inflation and move the economy to stable and steady growth. I have a very different approach from Congressional Republicans, led by Sen. Rick Scott, whose plan would raise taxes on people making less than $100,000 and require that Congress reauthorize bedrock programs like Medicare, Social Security and Medicaid every five years. That would make American families poorer and more economically insecure,\u201d Biden wrote, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/2022\/05\/12\/dissecting-white-houses-spin-that-most-republicans-want-raise-taxes\/\">reiterating<\/a> a now-common <a href=\"https:\/\/rollcall.com\/2022\/05\/10\/biden-elevates-rick-scott-as-economic-policy-adversary\/\">remark<\/a> against <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/05\/19\/florida-senator-rick-scott-ad-inflation-formula-shortage\/\">Scott<\/a> made from administration officials.<\/p>\n<p>Notably, this claim tying Scott\u2019s plan to that of Congressional Republicans was given three Pinocchios in a fact check <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.ph\/wZazy#selection-1207.0-1212.0\">published<\/a> by The Washington Post.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe still see little evidence that the proposals highlighted by the White House merit enough support that they can be dubbed \u2018congressional Republican\u2019 plans, let alone plans that a \u2018majority\u2019 of Republicans back.
