The surgeries are explicit, which spurred multiple walkouts at Cannes for viewers who couldn\u2019t stomach them.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are some very strong scenes,\u201d director David Cronenberg said in May, per<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ign.com\/articles\/david-cronenbergs-crimes-of-the-future-premiere-sparks-walkouts-cannes\"> IGN<\/a>. \u201cSome of the people who have seen the film have said that they think the last 20 minutes will be very hard on people, and that there\u2019ll be a lot of walkouts. Some guy said that he almost had a panic attack\u2026 But I\u2019m not convinced that that will be a general reaction.\u201d<\/p>\n[embedded content]\n<p>\u201cEveryone loves to talk about how his movies are difficult to watch and it\u2019s fun to talk about people walking out of Cannes screenings,\u201d Stewart told Insider. \u201cBut every single gaping, weird bruise in his movies, it makes my mouth open.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou wanna lean in toward it,\u201d she continued. \u201cAnd it never repulses me ever. The way I feel, it is through really visceral desire and that\u2019s the only reason we\u2019re alive. We\u2019re pleasure sacks.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The film\u2019s Canadian director said the project has been in the works for some time, but he felt now it was important to share as \u201cownership and control\u201d becomes a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/the-u-s-is-completely-insane-director-david-cronenberg-comments-on-roe-v-wade-at-cannes\">topic of conversation<\/a> with the likelihood of <em>Roe v. Wade<\/em> being overturned.<\/p>\n<p>Cronenberg said, \u201cIn Canada \u2026 we think everyone in the U.S. is completely insane. I think the U.S. has gone completely bananas, and I can\u2019t believe what the elected officials are saying, not just about Roe v. Wade, so it is strange times.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou could feel, even then, that this was coming,\u201d the 79-year-old Toronto native continued. \u201cA kind of oppressive ownership and control. It\u2019s the constant in history, that there\u2019s somewhere in the world that wants to control its population. That means, once again, body is reality. You control people\u2019s bodies \u2013 that\u2019s speaking, expressing themselves.
