Newsom was diagnosed a day after he met with New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Arden. Arden tested positive for COVID in May. The governor\u2019s office said her delegation has been notified.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">This AM, I tested positive for COVID-19 and am currently experiencing mild symptoms. They stated that he received Pfizer\u2019s Paxlovoid pill. It is not known how he contracted the virus, after he obtained his second booster shot.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><strong>\u201cThe governor received a prescription for the antiviral that has been proven effective against COVID-19,\u201d they said.\u201d \u201cHe will begin his 5 day regimen immediately.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Last September, two of Newsom\u2019s four children tested positive for COVID-19. Both the governor, his wife and their two other children tested negative for the virus at the time.<\/p>\n<p>Other public officials recently tested positive for the virus, including Washington Gov.
