It is not genuine footage from any ongoing conflict.<\/p>\n<p><span><strong>Fact Check: <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The Turkish-made Bayraktar TB2 is a medium-altitude attack drone, according to the manufacturer\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baykartech.com\/en\/uav\/bayraktar-tb2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">website<\/a>. The drone has been used to great effect by the Ukrainian military in its war against Russia and has been dubbed \u201cthe most celebrated drone of the age\u201d by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/davidhambling\/2022\/05\/10\/new-turkish-bayraktar-drones-still-seem-to-be-reaching-ukraine\/?sh=9d41b4a685b7\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Forbes<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>A Facebook video, viewed more than 55,000 times, allegedly shows footage from a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baykartech.com\/en\/uav\/bayraktar-tb2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Bayraktar TB2<\/a> drone attacking a Russian base in the desert. The nearly six-minute video shows the drone destroying several targets within the base.\u00a0\u201cRussian Desert Base and Infrastructure hit by Bayraktar TB2 Drone,\u201d the post\u2019s caption states, though it does not state the location of the alleged strike. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2022\/05\/27\/fact-check-russian-helicopters-shot-down\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Does This Video Show Russian Helicopters Being Struck By Anti-Air Missiles?)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The footage is not genuine. A reverse image search found the footage stems from <a href=\"https:\/\/arma3.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ARMA 3<\/a>, a military-style video game simulator created by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bohemia.net\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Bohemia Interactive<\/a>. The video first appeared on\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=j-OZSH2HJSA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">YouTube<\/a> May 15 where it was shared by user <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UC4gK4kfknilaOiMzX5BwaPw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">MiLSiM<\/a> with the same title featured in the Facebook post.<\/p>\n[embedded content]The YouTube video\u2019s description and title, however, include a Disclaimer identifying the footage as being from the video game. \u201cThis is not a real video, these are footage from the game!\u201d reads part of the description. The words \u201d MILSIM ARMA 3\u2033 are featured in the video\u2019s title. Other videos on the user\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UC4gK4kfknilaOiMzX5BwaPw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">channel<\/a> likewise include such Disclaimers.<\/p>\n<div id=\"gmail-ob-read-more-selector\">\n<div>\n<div>\n<p>ARMA 3 clips have been misidentified as genuine war footage since the beginning of the Ukrainian conflict. Check Your Fact recently <a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2022\/05\/27\/fact-check-russian-helicopters-shot-down\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">debunked<\/a> an ARMA 3 video that some social media users shared alleging it was real war footage of Russian helicopters being shot down by anti-air missiles.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A video\u00a0shared on Facebook allegedly shows a Russian desert base being destroyed by a strike from a Bayraktar TB2 drone.Verdict: FalseThe video footage is from a military-style video game.
