Meanwhile, Ammo Inc. stock surged more than 12 percent in the wake of the shooting.<\/p>\n<p>Elsewhere, stocks of ammunition maker\u00a0Vista Outdoor jumped 9 percent to $38.24 the day after the shooting,\u00a0while\u00a0American Outdoor Brands rose 6 percent to $11.12, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/05\/25\/stocks-of-gun-makers-surge-after-texas-school-shooting\/\">The New York Post.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The rise in stock price comes amid\u00a0renewed calls for gun control measures such as\u00a0enhanced background checks\u00a0and laws around storing weapons.<\/p>\n<p>It also suggests that investors anticipate sales to rise as customers flock to gun stores to purchase new weapons and stock up on ammunition before tighter gun control legislation is potentially introduced.<\/p>\n<p>A similar phenomenon with regards to a rise in the stock prices of gunmakers took place 2016, when\u00a0Smith &#038; Wesson jumped 20 percent after a gunman killed 49 people at an Orlando nightclub, according to The Washington Post.<\/p>\n<p>In 2019, following mass shootings\u00a0in Dayton, Ohio, and El Paso, which prompted\u00a0former President Donald Trump to\u00a0advocate stricter background check laws,\u00a0stock prices of gunmakers also saw a boost.<\/p>\n<p>Shares of\u00a0gun makers also rose ahead of the 2020\u00a0presidential election when then-Democratic candidate Joe Biden was shown to be leading in the polls amid the prospect of stricter gun regulation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe typical hypothesis is that this is an exogenous shock, unanticipated, and as a result of a mass shooting, the reaction is there is an expectation that legislative steps will be undertaken to potentially restrict ammunition, access to guns,\u201d Brian Marks, the executive director of the University of New Haven\u2019s Entrepreneurship and Innovation Program, told the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/gun-and-ammunition-stocks-surge-in-wake-of-uvalde-shooting\">Washington Examiner<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Biden condemned gun laws in\u00a0America in a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/speeches-remarks\/2022\/05\/25\/remarks-by-president-biden-and-vice-president-harris-at-signing-of-executive-order-to-advance-effective-accountable-policing-and-strengthen-public-safety\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">White House address<\/a>\u00a0a day after the Uvalde, while calling on lawmakers to \u201cstand up to a very powerful\u201d gun lobby.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen in God\u2019s name will we do what needs to be done to, if not completely stop, fundamentally change the amount of the carnage that goes on in this country?\u201d Biden said.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the student-led gun control advocacy group,\u00a0March for Our Lives, is\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/gun-control-advocacy-group-plans-nationwide-protests-after-texas-school-shooting_4492323.html\">planning nationwide protests across various parts of the United States<\/a> following the incident and will be meeting with lawmakers at\u00a0Capitol Hill from\u00a0June 7\u201310 to discuss\u00a0a push for\u00a0universal background checks on gun purchasers.<\/p>\n<p>Salvador Ramos, 18,\u00a0allegedly shot his grandmother on May 24 before driving toward Robb Elementary School in Uvalde and opening fire on the campus, killing 19 children and two adults.<\/p>\n<div class=\"author_wrapper\">\n<div class=\"one_author_block round\">\n<div class=\"top_row\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/author-katabella-roberts\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Follow<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Katabella Roberts is a reporter currently based in Turkey.
