Possibly the most humiliating loss ever,\u201d Lakshya Jain, an election analyst who writes for Split Ticket, told TheDCNF.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Republican Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp\u2019s primary victory on Tuesday could empower Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and other GOP politicians to run for president in 2024 regardless of whether former President Donald Trump throws his hat in the ring, election analysts told The Daily Caller News Foundation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf I\u2019m one of Trump\u2019s opponents, I would be really emboldened,\u201d J. Miles Coleman, associate editor of Sabato\u2019s Crystal Ball, told TheDCNF.<\/p>\n<p>Trump endorsed former Republican Sen. David Perdue in Georgia\u2019s gubernatorial primary in an <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/01\/04\/trump-georgia-loeffler-perdue-kemp\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">attempt to oust<\/a> Kemp, who refused to overturn President Joe Biden\u2019s victory in the state in the 2020 presidential election due to unsubstantiated claims of massive voter fraud.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think it\u2019s been kind of this big contrast where you have these governors like Ron DeSantis and Brian Kemp, who are actually scoring wins as conservative governors on legislation,\u201d Coleman said. \u201cMeanwhile, you have Trump, who\u2019s kind of at Mar-A-Lago talking about his grievances.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Kemp <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/05\/24\/brian-kemp-wins-georgia-donald-trump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">beat Perdue<\/a> by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/interactive\/2022\/05\/24\/us\/elections\/results-georgia.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">over 50 points<\/a>\u00a0Tuesday, outperforming the massive polling lead he had prior to election day. Republican Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger also surprisingly avoided a runoff against Trump-endorsed Rep. Jody Hice.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is probably the worst loss of the primary season for him. (Photo by Joe Raedle\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cTrump is bleeding right now,\u201d Coleman said. \u201cHe\u2019s definitely not looking as invincible in a Republican primary as he did this time a year ago.\u201d <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/04\/20\/desantis-florida-critical-race-theory-textbooks\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: DeSantis\u2019 Office Drags Its Feet Justifying Massive Textbook Rejection)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>DeSantis has long been considered the biggest <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/10\/04\/beat-him-donald-trump-ron-desantis-2024\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">potential challenger<\/a> to Trump in a 2024 primary due to the governor\u2019s popularity in the Republican Party. Even with Trump as an option, DeSantis <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/02\/27\/donald-trump-wins-cpac-straw-poll-second-straight-year\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">garnered<\/a> 28% of Republican voters in the 2022 Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) straw poll.<\/p>\n<p>His ability to wade into conservative battles as governor has positioned him well to run in 2024, Coleman said, citing his recent fights with his state\u2019s legislature and Disney over <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/04\/21\/florida-legislature-passes-congressional-map-redistricting\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">redistricting<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/05\/11\/desantis-legal-win-disneys-special-privileges\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">LGBT issues<\/a>, respectively, as examples of how he has continued to appeal to the conservative base.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGovernor DeSantis is focused on doing his job for Florida and is running for re-election this year,\u201d Christina Pushaw, DeSantis\u2019 press secretary, told TheDCNF in a statement. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/04\/07\/kristi-noem-donald-trump-speech-2024\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Kristi Noem Attempts To Broaden Support In Major Speech Ahead Of Potential 2024 Run)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Jain noted he would still say Trump is the \u201codds on favorite\u201d to win the Republican primary in 2024 and emphasized the power he still holds in the midwest. In the GOP\u2019s Ohio Senate primary, J. D. Vance became the frontrunner after Trump endorsed him, reviving his campaign and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/search?q=JD+vance+revives+campaign+daily+caller&#038;oq=JD+vance+revives+campaign+daily+caller&#038;aqs=chrome..69i57j33i160i395l2j33i299.5721j1j9&#038;sourceid=chrome&#038;ie=UTF-8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">propelling him to victory<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTrump\u2019s pull in the Midwest is significantly stronger, I think, than his pull on the GOP primary electorate in the South,\u201d Jain said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI would caution against overreacting to one primary night just because \u2026 a lot of things can happen,\u201d he said. \u201cI would say there\u2019s a definite lane for these guys and I think because that lane has gotten wider, all of a sudden, the odds of more candidates jumping in increases, but I would say we would probably need more evidence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Representatives for Trump did not immediately respond to TheDCNF\u2019s request for comment.<\/p>\n<p>Content created by The Daily Caller News Foundation is available without charge to any eligible news publisher that can provide a large audience.
