Pham was apparently still smarting over a dispute from their fantasy football league, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/team\/_\/name\/sf\/san-francisco-giants\">according to ESPN<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was a surprise,\u201d Pederson said. \u201cThere was no real argument. He kind of came up and said, like, \u2018I don\u2019t know if you remember from last year,\u2019 and I was like, \u2018Fantasy football?\u2019 He was like, \u2018Yeah.\u201d<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Tommy Pham reportedly taught Joc Pederson what the five fingers said to the face \ud83d\ude32 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/P88BknUUaY\">https:\/\/t.co\/P88BknUUaY<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Sports Illustrated (@SInow) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SInow\/status\/1530378345195704327?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 28, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Pham was benched for the game, which the Reds won, 5-1, and Major League Baseball is investigating the incident.<\/p>\n<p>After the game, Pederson said he was accused of cheating in the fantasy football league for putting San Francisco 49ers running back Jeff Wilson on injured reserve and replacing him with a free agent. Pederson insisted the move was legal because the player he put on IR had been ruled out for that week.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI sent a screenshot of the rules, how it says that if a player\u2019s ruled out, you\u2019re allowed to put him on the IR and that\u2019s all I was doing,\u201d Pederson said. \u201cHe literally did the same thing. That was basically all of it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Pederson speculated that Pham may have had Wilson in another league and gotten mixed up.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMaybe that was a confusion,\u201d he said. \u201cIn the ESPN league we were in, he was listed as out. It feels very similar to what I did. That was basically all of it. There\u2019s not much more to it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Pederson said he was caught off-guard by Pham\u2019s attack, but isn\u2019t looking to get even.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cViolence isn\u2019t the answer. It\u2019s over as far as I\u2019m concerned,\u201d Pederson said. \u201cI won\u2019t talk to him. I don\u2019t think he wants to talk to me, I don\u2019t know. It was a weird interaction.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Pham is getting a reputation as a hothead. In April, he challenged San Diego\u2019s hulking first baseman Luke Voit to a fight after Voit slid hard into Reds catcher Tyler Stephenson.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf Luke wants to settle it, I get down really well,\u201d Pham said. \u201cAnything. Muay Thai, whatever. Like I said, I\u2019ve got an owner here who will let me use his facility.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Giants Manager <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/in-wake-of-uvalde-shooting-san-francisco-giants-manager-boycotting-national-anthem-until-he-feels-better-about-direction-of-america\">Gabe Kapler<\/a>, who recently made news by saying he won\u2019t come out of the dugout for the National Anthem to protest gun violence, declined to comment on the dust-up.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMajor League Baseball is investigating it, and until that\u2019s complete, I\u2019m probably not going to say much on it,\u201d Kapler said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Real baseball players play fantasy football, too \u2013 and sometimes it gets ugly.
