While 41% plan to only fill their gas tanks with what is affordable, 35% are increasing their reliance on public transportation and 29% are canceling summer road trips.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLast week I switched over to partial remote rather than full-time in the office because my commute to work every day with gas prices is becoming undoable for what I make,\u201d Molly Johnson, a legal assistant from Norman, Oklahoma, told The Daily Wire.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI also now carpool to church every Sunday and don\u2019t go anywhere on my remote days in order to save on gas money,\u201d Johnson added. In order for her to drive normally again, gas prices would need to be $3.20 or below.<\/p>\n<p>The Biden administration \u2014 which has canceled expansions to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/peter-doocy-asks-for-a-straight-answer-on-keystone-gets-the-runaround-from-jen-psaki\">Keystone XL Pipeline<\/a> and dragged its feet on issuing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/unacceptable-cruz-gop-senators-demand-end-to-oil-and-gas-lease-permit-delays\">oil and gas permits<\/a> \u2014 is arguing that higher gas prices may help the United States transition more quickly to renewable energy.<\/p>\n<p>When pressed on \u201cenormously high gas prices\u201d at a press conference earlier this week, President Joe Biden said: \u201cWhen it comes to the gas prices, we\u2019re going through an incredible transition that is taking place that, God willing, when it\u2019s over, we\u2019ll be stronger and the world will be stronger and less reliant on fossil fuels when this is over.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Biden also pointed to his decisions to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/biden-raid-on-critical-strategic-petroleum-reserve-leaves-lowest-level-in-35-years\">release millions of barrels<\/a> from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve as successful in stopping gas prices from \u201cgetting even worse.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe price of gas at the pump is something that I told you \u2014 you heard me say before \u2014 it would be a matter of great discussion at my kitchen table when I was a kid growing up. It\u2019s affecting a lot of families,\u201d Biden said.<\/p>\n<p>Other White House officials have frequently called on American families to buy electric cars in reaction to rising gas prices. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, for instance, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/in-line-with-white-house-hopes-rising-gas-prices-lead-to-surge-in-electric-car-interest\">claimed<\/a> that Americans who buy electric vehicles \u201cnever have to worry about gas prices again.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe people who stand to benefit most from owning an EV are often rural residents who have the most distances to drive, who burn the most gas, and underserved urban residents in areas where there are higher gas prices and lower income,\u201d Buttigieg said. \u201cIf we can make the electric vehicle less expensive for everybody, more people can take advantage, and we\u2019ll be selling more American-made EVs, which means in time they\u2019ll become less expensive to make and to buy for everybody.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Prices at the pump are soaring \u2014 and Americans are scrambling to change their lifestyles in response.
