The Houston City Police Chief Troy Finner anticipates rife anti-gun protests outside the event.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><strong>\u201cWe\u2019re going to have enough officers to deal with whatever we need to deal with immediately,\u201d said Finner.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Texas Governor Greg Abbott (R) was initially scheduled to speak at the convention alongside former President Trump and Senator Ted Cruz, but decided to skip the event and instead return to Uvalde.
