Still, in true Trump style, he\u2019s yet to give a definitive answer on whether he\u2019ll actually run.<\/p>\n<p>For people close to the former president or familiar with his team\u2019s thinking, it seems obvious: Trump is heavily leaning towards <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/05\/16\/melania-hints-trump-2024-chances\/\">running<\/a> again. The following report is based on interviews with a half-dozen Trump associates \u2013 two former Trump administration officials, three people familiar with the president\u2019s thinking and one person familiar with the Trump team\u2019s thinking \u2013 speaking on condition of anonymity in order to discuss privileged conversations. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/03\/09\/really-happy-trump-2024-presidential-run\/\">(RELATED:\u00a0\u2018A Lot Of People Are Going To Be Really Happy\u2019: Trump Responds To Rumors Of Running In 2024)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/05\/24\/trump-reacts-pence-potentially-running-2024\/\">Trump\u2019s<\/a> health and how the midterms elections play out are two key factors in a possible 2024 run. Trump\u2019s already given a public nod to the health aspect, telling\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/rollcall.com\/2022\/04\/19\/you-always-have-to-talk-about-health-trump-shows-his-first-card-in-close-held-2024-hand\/\">The Washington Post<\/a>\u00a0in April that \u201cyou always have to talk about health.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As for the midterms, Trumpworld believes the overall results \u2013 and not necessarily how individual Trump-backed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/2022\/05\/25\/trump-endorsements-fizzle-in-georgia\">candidates<\/a> do in the primaries \u2013 will play a massive role in whether he\u2019ll run again.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf the Republicans take the House and the Senate, Donald Trump will run. If we take the House OR the Senate, Donald Trump will strongly consider running. REUTERS\/Hannah Beier<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Much of Trumpworld also views President Joe Biden as a key player in Trump\u2019s 2024 plans.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf Biden really does run again, [Trump\u2019s] running without question,\u201d a former senior Trump administration official said.<\/p>\n<p>Many who spoke with the Caller highlighted Biden\u2019s low poll numbers and various crises that the country is currently battling under his administration, saying that Trump is more likely to run if the current president continues on what\u2019s viewed as a disastrous path. In fact, this aspect has already been considered, one individual noted.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think he\u2019s [Trump] going to be looking to exploit a very unpopular president,\u201d the person familiar with the Trump team\u2019s thinking predicted.<\/p>\n<p>Trump\u2019s 2024 strategy wouldn\u2019t just be centered on Biden\u2019s struggles, though. For Trump and some of his associates, none of these problems \u2013 inflation, a border crisis, a war in Ukraine and more \u2013 would have happened were it not for what they view as a fraudulent election in 2020.<\/p>\n<p>From the outside, the former president\u2019s tumultuous departure from the White House in 2020 poses many questions as to what another presidential run would look like. To date, Trump continues to say in nearly all his public speeches that mass voter <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/05\/24\/brian-kemp-wins-georgia-donald-trump\/\">fraud<\/a> led to Biden taking office, and the January 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol remains front and center for much of the media and Democrats.<\/p>\n<p>With the former president still focused on his election fraud claims, Trump associates believe the subject of 2020 will dominate his potential upcoming presidential run. And, some within the president\u2019s inner circle still back Trump\u2019s mass voter fraud push.\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/04\/29\/bill-barr-trump-should-not-gop-nominee-2024\/\">(RELATED:\u00a0Bill Barr Says Trump Should Not Be The GOP Nominee In 2024)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think he\u2019s going to run. And here\u2019s \u2026 why I think this: You don\u2019t steal from Donald Trump,\u201d one person with knowledge of Trump\u2019s thinking told the Caller.<\/p>\n<p>There are differing views, however, on whether leaning into such a strategy will help Trump should he run in 2024.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think that running on the invalidity of the 2020 election is a mistake, because the American people are looking for solutions to the problems that Joe Biden created,\u201d the person with knowledge of the former president\u2019s thinking added.\u00a0\u201cWill Donald Trump talk about solutions? Absolutely. But unfortunately, he\u2019s wrapped around the axel of what they did to him in 2020. And he\u2019s right, but the American people aren\u2019t as interested in that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A former senior Trump administration official echoed these concerns, telling the Caller that he hopes Trump\u2019s advisor is \u201creally strong\u201d to \u201cadvise him away from re-litigating 2020.\u201d Still, this Trump administration official highlighted the fact that \u201celection integrity will still be important.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Despite these worries, the person familiar with the Trump team\u2019s thinking gave it a \u201c100%\u201d likelihood that Trump leans into election fraud in 2024 \u2013 and there are some who believe this strategy could actually help the former president, arguing that more people believe the rigged election story now than when the 2020 election played out.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_7438341\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-7438341\" class=\"size-full wp-image-7438341\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/2022-05-20T175021Z_1442541094_RC24BU9TZVGK_RTRMADP_3_USA-TRUMP-NEW-YORK-scaled-1.jpg\" alt=\"FILE PHOTO: U.S. President Donald Trump speaks near U.S. Defense Secretary Mark Esper during a send off for the Navy hospital ship USNS Comfort at Naval Station Norfolk, in Norfolk, Virginia, U.S. March 28, 2020. On that end, however, his inner circle isn\u2019t concerned.<\/p>\n<p>Trump, according to a person familiar with his team\u2019s thinking,\u00a0views January 6 as \u201ccompletely overblown\u201d and that \u201che didn\u2019t do anything.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s not gonna be like, \u2018oh what happened was good,\u2019 he\u2019ll say that that\u2019s bad, but also \u2026 every single poll shows that the American people don\u2019t care about Jan. 6 the way the media does,\u201d this person said.<\/p>\n<p>Recent polling does back up that argument. Five Thirty Eight, in an article published April 22, highlighted various polls <a href=\"https:\/\/fivethirtyeight.com\/features\/americans-are-moving-on-from-jan-6-even-if-congress-hasnt\/\">indicating<\/a> Americans want to move on from the Capitol riot investigation.<\/p>\n<p>Others close to the president view the riot in a similar light, with one describing it as a Washington, D.C., story.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe [Trump] does not think that what went wrong at the Capitol was right,\u201d the person familiar with Trump\u2019s thinking explained. \u201cHe doesn\u2019t think that. He\u2019s shocked at what went down, and so it\u2019s not like he believes that the violence was right. He thinks it was wrong, but the idea that the Democrats are blaming it all on him, he just rejects it. As he should.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe press will not get over 6th January, they won\u2019t get over 2016, they won\u2019t get over Russia, Russia Russia, but \u2026 I believe the American people are getting tired of that. I think the trust in the American media is falling way off,\u201d a former senior Trump administration official noted. \u201cIt\u2019s the economy, it\u2019s inflation, it\u2019s border \u2026 6th January is far down. Most people go, okay that\u2019s D.C. politics. It may sound good here in Washington, D.C., but I don\u2019t think it\u2019s playing well anywhere else.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s also unlikely, should the GOP take Congress, that Democrats can rely on January 6 as a serious presidential election strategy. The House committee currently investigating it faces an uncertain future.
