He then asked whether the White House would consider pulling back the $3 million PPP loan in light of the fact that their product had been used to perpetrate a mass shooting.<\/p>\n<p><strong>WATCH:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">.<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/shearm?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@shearm<\/a> asks whether the White House plans to &#8220;claw back&#8221; the PPP loan obtained (legally) by the company that made the firearm used by Uvalde shooter.<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/PressSec?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@presssec<\/a> asks for the name of the company. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/gBm6ThIfBb\">pic.twitter.com\/gBm6ThIfBb<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Virginia Kruta (@VAKruta) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/VAKruta\/status\/1529929289231220739?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 26, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cFirst, apparently the company that sold the shooter his rifles received a $3 million PPP loan under the last administration,\u201d Shear began. \u201cDo you know if there\u2019s any effort by this administration to claw that money back?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo this is the first I\u2019m hearing about this, so I would have to go back to the team and look into it,\u201d Jean-Pierre replied. \u201cDo you know the name of the company?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe company is Daniel Defense, D-a-n-i-e-l Defense, apparently they received a $3.1 million PPP loan right at the beginning,\u201d Shear continued. \u201cMy colleagues have been writing about it apparently today, but if \u2026 assuming that is confirmed, would the president do you think support the idea of trying to claw that money back?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI \u2014 honestly, Michael, I need to check with the team and make sure that is actually factual, but I need to check with the team,\u201d Jean-Pierre said again.<\/p>\n<p>Daniel Defense, located in Savannah, Georgia, was founded in 2001 and is one of the largest private gun manufacturers in the United States \u2014 thanks to millions in government contracts for weapons components that are used by the U.S. military.<\/p>\n<p>Since the Uvalde shooter bragged about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/us\/uvalde-gun-daniel-defense-pulls-out-nra-event-houston\">purchasing his firearm from Daniel Defense<\/a>, the company has faced a barrage of attacks on social media \u2014 many critical of a photo posted by the company showing a young boy holding a rifle across his lap. \u201cTrain up a child in the way he should go,\u201d the caption reads. \u201cAnd when he is old, he will not depart from it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The cowards <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DanielDefense?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@DanielDefense<\/a>, who allegedly sold one of the weapons used to murder children in Texas yesterday, deleted this tweet and locked their account some time this morning.<\/p>\n<p>But the internet is forever. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/c5nh6wtWcj\">pic.twitter.com\/c5nh6wtWcj<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Gabe Rosenberg (@Gaber205) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Gaber205\/status\/1529482499897929728?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 25, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<p>In the days since the shooting, Daniel Defense has made its official Twitter account private and the company has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/news\/investigations\/2022\/05\/25\/guns-used-uvalde-shooting-prompt-outcry-could-lead-lawsuits\/9929998002\/\">reportedly been removed<\/a> from the list of vendors scheduled to appear at Friday\u2019s scheduled annual meeting of the National Rifle Association (NRA).<\/p>\n<p>Steve Reed, the company\u2019s vice president of marketing, issued a statement on the tragedy. \u201cWe are deeply saddened by the tragic events in Texas this week.
