The man pulled out a handgun and pointed it at the news crew as they taped Lum\u2019s report for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fox32chicago.com\/news\/chicago-police-search-for-man-who-pointed-gun-at-fox-32-crew-during-a-live-report?taid=628eb0459c851e00019e5a01&#038;utm_campaign=trueanthem&#038;utm_medium=trueanthem&#038;utm_source=twitter\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Fox 32-TV\u2019s morning newscast<\/a> \u201cGood Morning Chicago.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHORRIFYING: While our reporter was in the middle of a live report about Chicago gun violence, a man walked up and pointed what appeared to be a firearm at our crew,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/fox32news\/status\/1529593175488200704?s=20&#038;t=_U-KwAXLj90an8hpfYYyuw\">the channel said in a tweet<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/FEnPmPGF4aY\" width=\"680\" height=\"382\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>In the video, the unidentified suspect is first seen walking out of a coffee shop carrying two cups of coffee, with one stacked atop the other. He disappears from view, only to return behind Lum and raised the handgun high above her. He appears to mimic firing it before skipping down the sidewalk away from the crew, waving the gun at his side.<\/p>\n<p>No shots were fired. Chicago police released photos of the man taken from the video and were searching for him.<\/p>\n<p>The station said it was swamped with calls from alarmed viewers after the harrowing scene.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThank you to the viewers who were watching Good Day Chicago and called or emailed to make sure our crew was okay,\u201d according to the station.<\/p>\n<p>The city has been plagued by gun violence in recent weeks. Earlier this month,\u00a0Democratic Mayor Lori Lightfoot announced on Monday a 10 p.m. weekend curfew for minors as the city struggles to stop violent crime.\u00a0The announcement followed the shooting death of a teenager.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat I want to do is make sure to reassure the public that our downtown is safe and we are taking these specific steps to make sure that our downtown remains safe,\u201d the mayor said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A man pointed a gun at a Chicago television reporter and her crew Wednesday as she delivered a live report on gun violence, in a shocking incident that has gone viral.
