The video was played for the jury early on in the trial,\u201d Variety reported.<\/p>\n<p>On cross examination, Depp\u2019s attorneys questioned Heard about the video, asking whether or not she had been the one to leak it to the press. \u201cI did not do that,\u201d Heard responded. \u201cI had nothing to do with that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sources \u201cconnected\u201d with Depp had also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tmz.com\/2016\/08\/12\/johnny-depp-amber-heard-throws-wine-glass-domestic-violence-video\/\">reportedly told TMZ<\/a> when the video first leaked \u2014 in mid-August of 2016 \u2014 that the video had been \u201cheavily edited\u201d and noted that there were parts of the video where Heard appeared to be \u201csmiling and egging him on.\u201d Those same sources reportedly suggested Heard had intentionally set up the video in order to make Depp look as though he was out of control.<\/p>\n<p>TMZ\u2019s lawyers asserted that under Virginia law, the court had to protect the identity of the source \u2014 additionally, they claimed that Tremaine had no connection with the video in question and anything he could possibly say on the stand would amount to \u201chearsay and conjecture.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTMZ promised this source that it would maintain their confidentiality and would not disclose their name or other information about them,\u201d TMZ\u2019s attorneys concluded. \u201cTMZ makes such promises of confidentiality, from time to time, so that it may publish information in the public interest, and it relies on the journalist\u2019s privilege protecting the identity of confidential sources to do so.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In addition to suggesting Heard might have leaked the video, Depp\u2019s attorney\u2019s questioned the \u201cAquaman\u201d star as to whether she had been the one to tip off photographers when she went to court in 2016 to obtain a restraining order.
