Eric Holcomb\u2019s veto on the legislation.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/iga.in.gov\/legislative\/2022\/bills\/house\/1041#document-3b9c60d7\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">HEA 1041<\/a>, set to go into effect July 1, requires public schools designate sports categories by sex and the genetics of the athletes. <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/03\/23\/eric-holcomb-indiana-spencer-cox-utah-transgender-sports\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Holcomb<\/a> originally <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/03\/22\/indiana-republican-governor-eric-holcomb-vetoes-bill-banning-transgender-females-school-sports-team\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">vetoed<\/a> HEA 1041 in March 2022, arguing at the time that the bill did not offer \u201cone consistent state policy regarding the fairness in K-12 sports in Indiana.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Today, legislators successfully voted to override the governor\u2019s veto and protect the integrity of girls\u2019 sports. This new law prohibits biological males from competing on girls\u2019 K-12 sports teams. Learn more: <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/kijQHmkY09\">https:\/\/t.co\/kijQHmkY09<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/nqhZzhwgOD\">pic.twitter.com\/nqhZzhwgOD<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Indiana House Republicans (@INHouseGOP) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/INHouseGOP\/status\/1529180119717273600?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 24, 2022<\/a> <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The Indiana House <a href=\"http:\/\/iga.in.gov\/legislative\/2022\/bills\/house\/1041#document-3b9c60d7\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">voted<\/a> to override the veto 67-28, while the Indiana Senate voted to override the veto 32-15. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/05\/20\/biological-male-dominates-womens-surfing-championships\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Biological Male Dominates Women\u2019s Surfing Championships In Australia)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think it\u2019s trying to keep the focus on female sports and fair competition with sports,\u201d Republican state Rep. Michelle Davis and author of the bill said in January. \u201cThat\u2019s what I feel the target of the bill is.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The law will additionally require private schools that participate in competitions with public schools to follow the legislation. Schools will not be subject to liability in cases of civil, administrative, disciplinary or criminal action for complying with the legislation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFinally, the presumption of the policy laid out in HEA 1041 is that there is an existing problem in K-12 sports in Indiana that requires further state government intervention,\u201d Holcomb <a href=\"https:\/\/www.in.gov\/gov\/files\/Veto-HEA-1041.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">said<\/a> in the March veto letter. \u201cIt implies that the goals of consistency and fairness in competitive female sports are not being met. I find no evidence to support either claim even if I support the overall goal.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Gov.
