Marjorie Taylor Greene has easily won the Republican primary.<\/p>\n<p>Greene defeated several Republicans vying to unseat her, particularly Jennifer Strahan, the founder of a suburban Atlanta health care advisory firm who pitched herself to voters as a \u201cno-nonsense conservative.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Projection:<br \/>Incumbent Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene is the Projected Winner in the <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/GA14?src=hash&#038;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#GA14<\/a> Republican Primary. The lawsuit accused the controversial Northwest Georgia Republican of engaging in insurrection. The judge found that the plaintiffs had not produced sufficient evidence to back their claims,\u201d local news outlet WUGA <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wuga.org\/local-news\/2022-05-09\/raffensperger-moves-ahead-with-putting-greene-on-ballot\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter Raffensperger adopted the judge\u2019s decision, the group that filed the complaint on behalf of the voters vowed to appeal. Free Speech for People has filed similar challenges in Arizona and North Carolina. Greene has filed a federal lawsuit challenging the legitimacy of the law that the voters are using to try to keep her off the ballot. That suit is pending,\u201d the outlet continued.<\/p>\n<p>Last month, an Obama-appointed federal judge allowed a liberal lawsuit aimed at disqualifying Greene from running for re-election.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-10\">\n<p><span>Advertisement<\/span>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cThe challenge to Greene\u2019s candidacy was mounted by a group of five voters from her congressional district who argued she is ineligible to run for federal office under a provision of the 14th Amendment that was ratified after the Civil War and meant to keep former Confederate officers and officials from holding public office again,\u201d CBS News <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/marjorie-taylor-greene-reelection-lawsuit-georgia-federal-judge\/?intcid=CNM-00-10abd1h\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn a challenge filed with Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger in late March, the voters argued Greene voluntarily aided and engaged in the January 6 insurrection to obstruct the peaceful transfer of power, thereby disqualifying her from serving as a member of Congress under the constitutional provision,\u201d the report continued.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGreene asked a federal court in Atlanta to intervene in the effort from the group of voters, seeking a preliminary injunction and temporary restraining order. But Judge Amy Totenberg of U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia rebuffed Greene\u2019s request, finding she failed to establish a strong likelihood of success on the legal merits of the case,\u201d the report added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis case involves a whirlpool of colliding constitutional interests of public import,\u201d Totenberg wrote in her 73-page decision.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-9\">\n<span>Advertisement<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cThe novelty of the factual and historical posture of this case \u2014 especially when assessed in the context of a preliminary injunction motion reviewed on a fast track \u2014 has made resolution of the complex legal issues at stake here particularly demanding,\u201d the judge added.<\/p>\n<p>James Bopp Jr., Greene\u2019s attorney, has dismissed the lawsuit against his client as \u201c50 pages of newspaper articles, hearsay, and political hyperbole.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bopp also warned during the court hearing last week that a ruling against Green could eventually lead to challenges against Donald Trump\u2019s fitness for office.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-8\">\n<p><span>Advertisement<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Greene previously <a href=\"https:\/\/conservativebrief.com\/judge-19-62131\/\">spoke out against the lawsuit<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is the same evil playbook the dishonest Communist Democrats use against President Trump and his family.\u00a0 Now they are using it on me, because they know I\u2019m effective and will not bow to the DC machine,\u201d Greene said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs I\u2019ve said many times before, I\u2019m vehemently opposed to all forms of political violence,\u201d she said. \u201cI\u2019ve never encouraged political violence and never will.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-7\">\n<p><span>Advertisement<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Advertisement OPINION: This article may contain commentary which reflects the author&#8217;s opinion.
