Instead, he said he based his understanding of Depp\u2019s mental state on testimony from Depp and others \u2014 as well as Depp\u2019s performances in movies.<\/p>\n<p>When Depp lawyer Wayne Dennison asked the doctor what he \u2018used as a baseline\u2019 for analyzing the actor, Spiegel said: \u201cI guess my baseline would probably be how I\u2019ve seen him interact in public, how I\u2019ve seen him interact with others, I\u2019ve seen him interact in media and his processing speed is certainly not slow.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dennison: \u201cAt deposition, didn\u2019t you say that what you did was compare Mr. Depp\u2019s performance in lots of Pirate movies against his deposition testimony here?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Spiegel: \u201cWhat I said was I\u2019ve seen Mr. Depp do apology ads\u2026 I\u2019ve seen him interact with the media regarding to that, I saw no delay in processing speed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Heard in 2018 penned an op-ed in The Washington Post in which Depp was not named, but she declared herself a \u201cpublic figure representing domestic violence.\u201d That prompted Depp to sue her for $50 million. Heard then countersued for $100 million, claiming that her former husband defamed her when he and his lawyer said she made up her allegations of domestic violence.
