The current average of diesel is listed at $5.54. <\/p>\n<p>In California, residents are paying the highest prices at an average $6.06 per gallon. Analysts at JPMorgan Chase <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/gas-prices-could-reach-6-a-gallon-by-summer-jpmorgan\/\">predict<\/a> the six-dollar price could become the national average by August. <\/p>\n<p>The new heights follow nearly an entire month of daily records as Americans cope with rapidly rising gas prices that are coinciding with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bls.gov\/news.release\/pdf\/cpi.pdf\">record inflation<\/a> at its fastest pace in four decades. <\/p>\n<p>Monday marked more than two weeks straight of daily peaks in gas prices inching upward, even after the president\u2019s \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/04\/01\/joe-biden-is-doing-everything-possible-to-avoid-unleashing-american-energy-production\/\">unprecedented<\/a>\u201d release from the emergency petroleum reserves. Meanwhile, at a press conference in Japan, President Joe Biden <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/05\/23\/biden-praises-gas-prices-as-part-of-incredible-transition\/\">celebrated<\/a> the added stress on the American consumer as the price of \u201can incredible transition.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[When] it comes to the gas prices, we\u2019re going through an incredible transition that is taking place that, God willing, when it\u2019s over, we\u2019ll be stronger and the world will be stronger and less reliant on fossil fuels,\u201d Biden said. <\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2021\/11\/11\/joe-biden-could-bring-down-gas-prices-tomorrow-hes-choosing-not-to\/\">enthusiastic forfeiture<\/a> of domestic energy dominance by way of abandoning reliable sources in fossil fuels continues to bleed American pocketbooks while leaving the nation more vulnerable to interruptions in the power grid. Last week, a new report from the Atlanta-based energy nonprofit North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) forecast a summer of sporadic blackouts amid heat waves poised to overwhelm utilities operating under drought conditions. Low water levels will diminish output from hydroelectric dams and handicap aging conventional power stations\u2019 ability to keep cool as smoke from wildfires cloud out sunlight for solar panels, all while the power grid confronts high demand in peak temperatures. NERC Director of Reliability Assessment and Performance Analysis John Moura said the premature retirement of conventional power plants in favor of wind and solar was in part to blame. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe pace of our grid transformation is out of sync,\u201d Moura <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bnnbloomberg.ca\/vast-swath-of-us-is-at-risk-of-summer-blackouts-regulator-warns-1.1767730\">told<\/a> BNN Bloomberg. <\/p>\n<p>Beyond gas prices, energy costs across the board are up more than 30 percent from last year, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bls.gov\/news.release\/pdf\/cpi.pdf\">data<\/a> from the Department of Labor.
