I was smoking [marijuana] a lot. I can\u2019t do anything in moderation,\u201d Mandel said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIs that right?\u201d Maher asked.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have to smoke \u2019til I\u2019m not conscious. And if I can\u2019t get enough pot \u2019til I\u2019m not conscious, I would take a drink. And then if there wasn\u2019t enough to drink, I would eat like seven gummies,\u201d Mandel elaborated.<\/p>\n<p>Maher pointed out the fact that a reasonably healthy person like Mandel had nothing to fear with regard to COVID, noting that the risk of complications or severe disease was low for him. And that was when Mandel explained that his reaction had nothing to do with fear \u2014 but everything to do with his OCD.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cObsessive Compulsive Disorder is just this \u2014 when you are cognizant of the fact that your thoughts and your fears are not making sense, but you can\u2019t stop that thought or that fear. And it becomes repetitive so much so that you have to, it stops your life,\u201d Mandel explained, comparing himself to the reclusive businessman Howard Hughes. \u201cA\u00a0very intelligent man who ended his final years alone in a room naked, pissing into bottles, right? I can\u2019t tell you how close I am to that. Every waking moment of my life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMisery doesn\u2019t love company. Right.
